Port Royal’s Ready For Huge Weekend Doubleheader With All Star Sprints & Lucas Oil LM Dirt Series

Story By: JUSTIN SNYDER / PORT ROYAL SPEEDWAY – PORT ROYAL, PA – Port Royal Speedway is gearing up for one of the biggest weekends of the entire season as both the FloRacing All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series are coming to the speedway for a weekend doubleheader April 17-18.

The All Stars will kick off the action with the highly anticipated sixth annual Keith Kauffman Classic presented by Valley Supply Inc. on Saturday, April 17th. The drivers will be vying for a $10,000 prize, which is a $4000 increase from last year’s race.

This is the first of six scheduled events for the All Stars at Port Royal Speedway in 2021. Unique to this season though will be an increased purse for all events highlighted by the Bob Weikert Memorial paying $29,000 to win for the finale and the 54th annual Tuscarora 50 paying a record $54,000 to win. These two races are the highest paying winner’s shares on the 2021 All Star schedule at the moment.

Formed in 1970 as the first ‘Outlaw’ Sprint Car organization of the modern era, the All Stars series has been a staple in the Central Pa. region for decades past. In its current form, the series is owned by motorsports legend Tony Stewart (since 2015) and features some of the best drivers in winged sprint car action that the sport has to offer.

The event honors National Sprint Car Hall of Fame driver Kauffman, a 24-time winner with the All Stars and the winningest driver in the history of Port Royal Speedway. Along with the Sprint Cars, the Selinsgrove Ford Limited Late Models will be on the card competing for an increased $1500 to win.

Anthony Macri picked up the win during last year’s event, which was postponed as a result of Covid-19 and held later in the season. Lance Dewease has won the event an unprecedented three times (2017-2019), while Dale Blaney was the winner of the race during its inaugural event in 2016.

Logan Wagner enters the weekend as the current Weikert’s Livestock 410 Sprint Car points leader in search of his fourth consecutive track title/ Wagner leads Dylan Cisney by a mere 20 markers with Jeff Halligan (-70), Macri (-85) and Mike Wagner (-135) rounding out the rest of the top-five.

On the All Star side, Justin Peck enters the weekend as the points leader over Zeb Wise, Hunter Schuerenberg, Brent Marks and Cory Eliason.

Gates will open at 3pm with racing scheduled to begin at 6pm. General Admission is $25, Students are $10 and Pit Admission is $35.

Sunday April 18 will be the Lucas Oil Late Model Series first of four visits to the speedway in 2021 for the “River Valley 40” presented by River Valley Builders Modular Home Sales.

Series drivers like Brandon Sheppard, Devin Moran, and Hudson O’Neal will look to take on River Valley Builders Port Royal regulars like Gregg Satterlee, Jeff Rine, Andy Haus and all-time great Rick Eckert. All in quest of the $10,000 winners share!

Last year’s event was cancelled as a result of Covid-19, but held later in the season as part of a three-day ‘Rumble By the River’ event. Past winners at the Speedway with the series are Kyle Larson, Tim McCreadie, Scott Bloomquist and Eckert.

O’Neal enters the weekend holding a 45-points lead in the Lucas Oil standings over Devin Moran. McCreadie is in third (-60), followed by Kyle Bronson (-120) and Brandon Sheppard (-125).

As far as the River Valley Builders Super Late Model competitors, Dylan Yoder holds a narrow 5-point advantage in the Port Royal track standings over Delaware native Ross Robinson. Gary Stuhler (-50), Colton Flinner (-80) and Trevor Feathers (-90) round out the top-five.

The Selinsgrove Ford Limited Late Models will compete on the card as well as part of a weekend doubleheader for the series. They will again be racing for an increased $1500 to win.

Devin Hart has won the last two Selinsgrove Ford Limited Late Model features at the Speedway and currently holds an 85-points advantage in the standings over Derrick Garman. Kenny Yoder (-90), Andrew Yoder (-95) and Shawn Shoemaker (-110) rounds out the top-five.

All gates will open at 2pm with racing scheduled to begin at 6pm. General admission is $25, students are $10 with pits costing $40.
