Column: Excitement Building As Brockville Ontario Speedway Releases Its ’21 Schedule

Column By: JIM CLARKE / BROCKVILLE ONTARIO SPEEDWAY – BROCKVILLE, ONT – It doesn’t take much to get home track racers fired-up about a new season of action.

Even though the first green flag of the 2021 schedule is still more than a month away, the provincial motorsports community is buzzing about this year’s line-up at Brockville Ontario Speedway.

Track owner/promoter Paul Kirkland and his staff spent the off-season working on a calendar of events that will thrill fans from the opening night lid-lifter to the victory lane celebrations of the Northeast Fall Nationals.

Subject to provincial government COVID-19 protocol, this year’s events at The BOS kick-off Saturday, May 8th with the J & J Automotive DIRTcar 358 and Sportsman Modifieds, Novice Sportsman, Mini Stock, Street Stock and 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprints. Kirkland says its easy to understand why everyone is so anxious to see the new schedule leave the staging area.

“Like everyone else, we had a tough time of things in 2020 but thanks to our wonderful fans, race teams and sponsors, we were able to run some great shows; including an amazing Fall Nationals,” said Kirkland. “While we’ve yet to hear anything about the size of allowable gatherings, I’m hoping we can work things out to swing the gates wide open, but that remains to be seen.”

With 19 Saturday nights of regular season action on the agenda, this year has something for everyone. The Ogilvie’s Auto & Fleet Triple Crown for 358 and Sportsman-Modifieds returns for 2021 with the opening rounds slated for July 3rd and 31st, with the finale booked for Friday, October 15th.

Sprint Car fans will see the hometown Crate Sprints throughout the year, with the Patriot Sprint Tour on hand July 17th and Empire Super Sprints August 14th. The Action Crate Sprint Tour has a regular season date August 21st and will run both nights of this year’s Fall Nationals.

“Our fans deserve nothing but the best and that’s exactly what we had in mind with planning this year’s line-up,” admitted Paul Kirkland. “We’ll do everything we can to make sure the 2021 schedule comes to fruition.”

The calendar wraps-up with the King Edward Auto Parts – Carquest/Dirt Outlaw Apparel Fall Nationals – Craig Revelle Tribute – presented by St. Lawrence Radiology and Rez X Racing. Friday, October 15th offers the Ogilvie’s Auto & Fleet Series Championship Crowning 50 and 40 lap features for the 358 Modified and Sportsman teams, with Mini Stock and Action Sprint Tour. Racing starts at 6:00. The 100 lap Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified and 50 lap Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Championship races, the Action Crate Sprint Tour finale, Vintage Mods and a 50 lap Street Stock feature highlight the Saturday, October 16th show, with a 5:00 green flag.
