RPW Column: Albany-Saratoga’s 2021 Season; One Not To Be Missed By Fans & Racers Alike
Column By: BRETT HORLACHER / RPW – MALTA, NY – Even with a coating of mid-winter snow, the award-winning promotional team of Lyle DeVore and his fiancé, Marcy Mangino are hard at work prepping for the 2021 season at the famed 4/10-mile Albany-Saratoga Speedway.
Albany-Saratoga will be returning for its 56th consecutive summer of racing with some of the most action-packed weekly racing in the country starting on Friday April 16th, dubbed the “Hell or High-Water” season opener.
All weekly divisions are scheduled to be in action and DeVore is excited.
“We just can’t wait to get back racing,” an excited DeVore said in a recent interview with RPW. “Our racers, race Teams, sponsors and devoted fans got us through 2020. We can’t wait to pay them back in 2021.”
With returning sponsors and some new coming on board, as well as several special events for each division, the 2021 season at the Malta, NY oval is shaping up to be one not to be missed.
Recently, the state of New York released guidelines regarding outdoor entertainment venues being permitted to open at 33% capacity starting April 9th. When asked about the recent guidelines DeVore stated the track’s plans so fans can return to enjoy the action.
“We’re going to do everything we can to get things on the road back towards normal,” he said. “We will do everything in our power to provide a safe and clean environment for the fans to get back to the track.
Also, in the works for fans who cannot attend, the track intends on extending their relationship with pay-per-view steaming services.
With the expected return of perennial fan favorites, including defending Modified Track Champion Mike Mahaney which was announced on Saturday, February 27th, things are looking like this coming season will be one to remember at Albany-Saratoga.
“We can’t wait to see everyone back and the cars running.” DeVore said.
