Merrittville Speedway Updates Rulebook For ’21; Option For Mods To Run DIRTcar Legal 358 On Methanol

Story By: STEVE PETTY / MERRITTVILLE SPEEDWAY – THOROLD, ONT – As the Merrittville Speedway continues to get ready for the 70th season of racing at “Canada’s Oldest Dirt Track”, the 2021 rulebooks have been finalized for all divisions.

The biggest changes will be for the S&W Service Centre 358 Modifieds. Drivers that choose to run on methanol with a DIRTcar 358 legal motor will need to add 50lbs. For drivers that are running the W-16 engine package, the car must weigh 2300lbs whether they run on gasoline or methanol and can run up to a 750 carb. All other Modified rules are going by the 2021 358 Modified DIRTcar Northeast rulebook.

“We are continuing our partnership with DIRTcar Northeast and continuing our sanctioning agreement for the Sportsman division,” commented Merrittville Speedway owners Don & Lorraine Spiece. All rules for the Rick’s Delivery DIRTcar Sportsman will be following the 2021 DIRTcar Northeast rulebook.

“All engines for Hoosier Stock, and Sportsman, must have DIRTcar seals or GM seals,” Spiece said. All W-16 engines must have the original Wegner seals.

Rules for the Hoosier Stocks, 4 Cylinders, Mod Lites, and V6 are unchanged for 2021. The Hoosier Stock and 4 Cylinders will once again be following the rules established by the Ontario Dirt Competition Committee (ODCC).

The 2021 rulebook for both the stock cars and for the Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series go-kart program will be available online at www.merrittvillespeedway.com
