Airborne Speedway Is Ready To Go Green For 2021 Racing Season
Story By: AIRBORNE SPEEDWAY – PLATTSBURGH, NY – Saturday night short track racing action will return to Plattsburgh, as Airborne Speedway will open the gates on May 1 of 2021.
Howard Commander and Lyle Devore have struck a lease agreement with owners Jamie Atkins and Steve Fuller, after a time of uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The DIRTcar Sportsman Series will kick-off the season, as Sportsman drivers from across the northeast will travel to Plattsburgh for a 40-lap, $1,000 to win main event.
Season long plans include racing on Saturday night from May to September with some specials along the way. Weekly divisions will include Sportsman, Limited Sportsman, Renegades and 4-cylinders. Some Pro-Stock specials will be included as well.
Rich Walker will act as the General Manager and oversee the day-to-day facility operations. Robby Knowles will return in a promotional role, including competition director on race nights and track media/public relations. Bob Trombley will also return in a key role, handling public and sponsor relations.
