Schatz Scores Fourth WoO Win Of ’20 At Plymouth; Williams Grove’s National Open Next
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – Ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, returned to Series victory lane during the recent weekend, highlighting a five-day stretch of All Star Circuit of Champions and World of Outlaws competition with a win at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana, on Thursday, September 24.
The World of Outlaws triumph was Schatz’ fourth of the season, taking command on lap 21 after race leader, Sheldon Haudenschild, suffered from mechanical misfortune.
“These (Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing) guys kept digging,” said Schatz in Plymouth victory lane. “We know the road to the top. We know the road to the bottom. These guys just keep working. They’ve tried to get a handle on the horsepower (of the Ford FPS 410 engine). This is a different combination for tonight and obviously everything that’s happened shows it’s going in the right direction. We’re happy about that.”
Schatz’ Plymouth Speedway victory kicked-off three straight nights of World of Outlaws competition, nearly trumping his $10,000 win with a fourth-place run during the WoO return to Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, on Friday, September 25. Schatz started in the exact same position.
A visit to Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, September 26, capped the three-day stretch; Schatz finished tenth from 13th.
Before igniting three consecutive Outlaw starts, Schatz joined the All Star Circuit of Champions at Eldora Speedway and took part in the first-ever Governors Reign on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 22-23. Concluded with a $52,000-to-win finale, Schatz finished tenth and 19th, respectively, during the two-day showstopper, forced to surrender a top-ten running position on Wednesday after his nose wing detached; the Fargo-native recovered to finish 19th.

Schatz, who will enter the weekend third in the current World of Outlaws standings, is a five-time champion of the Williams Grove Speedway National Open.
