Georgetown’s Oct. 2nd Mod & Crate Sportsman Victors Rewarded With Port Royal Guaranteed Spots

Story By: BRETT DEYO / GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY – GEORGETOWN, DE – Competitors in the L&J Sheet Metal Modified and Chesapeake Paving/J.W. Brown Trucking Crate 602 Sportsman divisions will have extra incentive to perform this Friday (Oct. 2) at Georgetown Speedway.

Guaranteed starting positions are up for grabs for the richest and most anticipated Northeast Modified event of the season: the ‘Speed Showcase 200’ weekend at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.) October 15-17, 2020.

The winner of Friday night’s 25-lap L&J Sheet Metal Modified main event will receive $3,000 and a guaranteed starting berth in the $53,000-to-win ‘Speed Showcase 200’ at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday, October 17 should that driver not qualify for the main event.

The Chesapeake Paving/J.W. Brown Trucking Crate 602 Sportsman receive $1,000 for their 20-lap main plus a guaranteed spot in the ‘Speed Showcase 50’ at Port Royal Speedway which pays $2,500 to win for 50 laps.

Friday night’s Georgetown event offers something for everyone.

Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars invade the half-mile oval for the second time in 2020. The wingless 360 Sprint Cars take part in qualifying events and a 25-lap feature. Modified star Ryan Watt won the July 24 event driving Tim Hogue’s No. 39.

Sunoco Race Fuels Weekly Championship Series points are up for grabs for racers in both the Modified and Crate 602 Sportsman divisions. Friday’s event is the second-to-last race in their season-long Georgetown battle.

Billy Pauch Jr. leads the Modified standings, with Joe Toth atop the Crate 602 Sportsman points.

Completing the program are the Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars (12 laps –features for Modifieds and Sportsman), Little Lincolns (12 laps), Delaware Super Trucks (12 laps) and Delmarva Chargers (12 laps).
