Column: Brockville Speedway’s 2020 Regular Season Finale Waiting In The ‘Wings’
Column By: JIM CLARKE / BROCKVILLE ONTARIO SPEEDWAY – BROCKVILLE, ONT – It had already been a schedule that had everyone talking. And then Mother Nature stole a show from the race teams, drivers and fans at Brockville Ontario Speedway.
After a rainout Saturday, August 29th, attention now shifts to the Labour Day Weekend regular season wrap-up, presented by 1000 Islands Toyota, Gerald Tallman Holdings and Tackaberry Construction – headlined by the DIRTcar Sportsman-Modifieds, along with the Novice Sportsman, 1000 Islands RV 602 Crate Sprint Cars, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Vintage Mods – Saturday, September 5th. Track owner and promoter Paul Kirkland says that despite the circumstances, his promotional team is happy to get so many strong shows in the record books.
“Although this season will always show an asterisk in the more than 50 year history of the speedway, we were pleased to be racing at all,” Paul Kirkland explained. “We owe a huge vote of thanks to the racers and our local sponsorship and advertising partners who made the truncated 2020 season such a huge success. It shows the strength, effort and dedication they have when it comes to continually supporting our program.”
With the final weekly action before October 2nd and 3rd’s running of the Dirt Outlaw Apparel/Nature’s Reality Botanical Blends Northeast Fall Nationals on the horizon, teams are reminded that because of the provincial government’s contact tracing protocol, intention to compete registration and payment needs to be received by 5:00 Thursday, September 3rd. Fans can request grandstand admission passes by an e-mail request following the ticket lottery procedure shown on the track’s web-site and social media platforms.
Even as the COVID-19 Pandemic continues to dominate headlines around the world, Brockville Ontario Speedway’s blockbuster event remains on the schedule. The DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals – this year with backing from Dirt Outlaw Apparel and Nature’s Reality Botanical Blends – will thrill fans Friday, October 2nd and Saturday, October 3rd. Opening night action will include a 50-lap ‘A’ main for the Sportsman-Modifieds, along with 25 lap features for the Street Stocks and Vintage Mods. Racing starts at 7:00. The second round highlight is a 100 lapper for the Small Block Modifieds and 25-lap main events for the Street Stock, Mini Stock and Action Sprint Car classes, starting at 6:00. Time trials will hit the track before each night’s green flag.
“We’re all hoping for another great run at the Northeast Fall Nationals,” said Paul Kirkland. “It will be exciting to welcome the Action Sprint Tour for their first ever appearance at The BOS and we look to have even more announcements as the event draws closer.”
