Column: Brockville Ontario Speedway Changes Season Finale Line-Up To Add 358’s

Column By: JIM CLARKE / BROCKVILLE ONTARIO SPEEDWAY – BROCKVILLE, ONT – To brand the 2020 short track racing schedule as a season of change would be the ultimate understatement. Just days after seeing its last show of August fall victim to the weather forecast, officials at Brockville Ontario Speedway have shuffled the deck to add the crowd favourite Small Block Modifieds to the Saturday, September 5th regular season finale.

“We hated to lose one of the few shows that included the 358 Modifieds and started talking about ways to add the class to the docket,” said track owner and promoter Paul Kirkland. “When Billings Automotive, 1000 Islands RV, Surprenant Truck Shop, King Edward Parts and other great supporters stepped-up the plate with some extra cash that brought the winner’s payday up to $3600.00 and increased prize money for the top 5 spots, we knew we had to make it happen.”

The wrap-up to the abbreviated 2020 season – presented by 1000 Islands Toyota and Gerald Tallman Holdings – will now include a 50 lap feature Small Block Modifieds, Sportsman-Modifieds, Rookie Sportsman, 1000 RV Crate Sprints, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Vintage Mods. Thanks to the tremendous backing of sponsors and friends, there will be special cash bonus and product contingency prizes for several different divisions. Full details can be found on the track social media platforms.

Teams are reminded that because of the provincial government’s contact tracing protocol, intention to compete registration and payment needs to be received by 5:00 Thursday, September 3rd. Fans can request grandstand admission passes by an e-mail request following the ticket lottery procedure shown on the track’s web-site and social media platforms.

In addition to the revised schedule for the Labour Day Weekend event, the team at The BOS has also announced changes for the Northeast Fall Nationals – Friday, October 2nd and Saturday, October 3rd – presented by Dirt Outlaw Apparel and Nature’s Reality Botanical Blends. Opening night has the DIRTcar Sportsman-Modifieds, Street Stocks, Vintage Mods and the 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Cars, with a 7:00 start. Round 2 is highlighted by a 96 lap DIRTcar 358 Modified feature, in memory of good friend and former car owner Mike Lasalle. Street Stock, Mini Stock, Action Sprint Tour and Lightning Sprint Tour will also be on the show. Racing gets underway at 6:00. Time trials will be run prior to each night’s program.

“We’re all hoping for another great run at the Northeast Fall Nationals,” said Paul Kirkland. “It will be exciting to welcome the Action Sprint and the Lightning Sprint Tours for their first ever appearances in our Fall blockbuster at The BOS and we look to have even more announcements as the event draws closer.”
