Tavien Blowers, Mike Allery Among Racers Taking Checkers At Caroga Creek RacePark
Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / CAROGA CREEK RACEPARK – EPHRATAH, NY – With sunny skies and a pit full of social distancing teams, the 2020 season continued at the Caroga Creek RacePark Saturday afternoon. When all was said and done a few new faces graced victory lane along with some familiar ones.
In the 20 Lap Slingshot event Tavien Blowers picked up the win. It was the first win by Blowers at Caroga Creek this season. The streak of new winners continued this week as Blowers was the fourth different division winner in as many events in 2020.
When the checkered flag waved on the eventful feature event, Blowers crossed under the checkers first followed by Brock Pinkerous, Joe Rando, Devin Pierce and Brett Putnam.
During the final stages of the feature event Pinkerous and Putnam tangled while battling for the race lead. Putnam went pit side while Pinkerous was disqualified for having a crew member run onto the race track. This was a violation of track safety rules.
With the disqualification Jim Pollard moved into the top five. The heat race was won by Pinkerous.
Mike Allery picked up his first win of the season in the 20 Lap Wing Champ feature event. Ronnie Smith finished a strong second with Matt Munson third, Kyle Dingman fourth and Chris Sweeney fifth. The heat races were won by Allery and Smith.
The Caroga Creek Rewind presented by LaGrange Media features full video of both the Slingshot and Wing Champ feature events. The Caroga Creek Rewind is posted on the Caroga Creek RacePark Facebook and Twitter pages.
