Stewart Friesen To Honor Grandfather & Former Ransomville Owner, Stan Friesen At Darlington
Story By: RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – Current NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series driver and former Ransomville Speedway driver and staff member Stewart Friesen will be sporting a familiar look this Sunday when he makes his first career start at the Darlington Raceway.
Friesen will pay tribute to his grandfather and former Ransomville Speedway owner, Stan Friesen, and his partner Kurt Uhl with a special throwback paint scheme for his Halmar Friesen Racing #52 Toyota Tundra as part of Throwback Weekend at Darlington. The truck will sport the same red and white colors that his grandfather ran in the 1970s as he competed at tracks across New York and Ontario in a 1936 coupe.
“Appreciative of Chris (Larsen, HFR owner) to let us do a throwback of my grandfather Stan Friesen, “Pops” or “Papa” to me and my cousins,” said Friesen. “Really excited to run “Dollydear” at Darlington and hope we have some great luck like Pops and Kurt did.”
Friesen and Uhl purchased Ransomville in the 1970s and operated the facility until Uhl’s departure in 1987. The Friesen family continued to run Ransomville until 2015.
The South Carolina Education Lottery 200 for the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series will take place Sunday at 2 p.m. EDT on FOX Sports 1.
