RPW Column: Racing Of Yesteryear Set To Come Alive At ‘The Great Race Place’

RPW Column By: LAURIE FALLIS / RPW – MALTA, NY – After missing the first show at Albany-Saratoga Speedway due to COVID-19, the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series (MVVDMS) is ready to take fans a step back in time at ‘The Great Race Place.’

Unfortunately, due to NY Governor Restrictions, fans will be unable to attend the actual races. That means, no seeing or smelling the cars from different eras in person. That’s very disheartening to the Series because that’s what it’s all about. They enjoy putting on a great entertaining and competitive show for the fans!

The Series’ quality drivers are always entertaining and bring the memories alive. Vintage racing is important to show the younger generations unique cars of yesteryear which led to our sport being what it is today.

There will be an array of cars that the series will be bring to the Malta, NY oval. You’ll not want to miss this event and can view it on Dirt Track Digest TV.

The line-up slated for the event will present heats and two big features events that will produce four winners with excitement racing throughout.

Let’s take a look at the classes and drivers that will be a part of the John Grady Memorial.

The Vintage Antique class has grown to new heights in 2020 with outstanding racing coming down to the last lap in each event. Drivers participating include Frank Blanchard, Jimmy Fugel, Mike Cole, Mark Reardon, brothers Chuck and Bryan Scofield and bothers Joe and Jon Trudeau. Don Wells, Ed Docskolic, Mike Wheeler and Stew Padisso.

The Vintage Sportsman division has also seen exciting racing coming down to the last lap determining the winner. Great drivers like Frank Hoard Jr, Mike Francisco, Brian Gray, Carl Cram, Dave Charczuk, John Constantino, Stephen Denton, George Palmer and Dan Wood all participate.

The Vintage Modified division has had fans on the edge of their seats, witnessing some thrilling finishes. Kyle Hoard, John Flach, Stanley Wetmore, Merv Blackwell Randy Delaney and Mike Houghtaling are just some of the driver who will be ready for action.

The popular Vintage Late Model class has also grown gradually. Drivers ready for action will be John Roese, Will Reed, Joe Millington, Malcum Warner Garrett Liese and Curtis Condon.

The Series could not be possible if not for all the great sponsors that support it. Without them, it wouldn’t be possible to give back to the drivers that are dedicated in keeping the memories of our racing past alive. They are the reason why the series shines along with the amazing drivers.
