Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Hall Of Fame Inductions Cancelled For 2020

Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK HALL OF FAME – FULTONVILLE, NY – The Glen Ridge Motorsports Park launched their Hall of Fame in 2018. The Hall of Fame was launched to recognize those who laid the groundwork for the exciting racing action we have seen and continue to see each and every Sunday at the fast quarter mile just off Mary’s Lane.

The two classes that have been inducted have done so in front of large crowds that gave the drivers, owners, officials and personalities who have been inducted the respect and gratitude that they deserve.

On Sunday August 16th the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Hall of Fame Committee is scheduled to induct the third class of the growing Hall of Fame.

This week the Hall of Fame Committee, who is made up of track co-promoter Butch Hazzard, area announcer/journalist Toby LaGrange, long time journalists Ed Bittig, Sr. and Jim Ellis and track head starter Joey Kriss, discussed the 2020 inductions.

It was mutually agreed upon that it would not be fair to the inductees or the fans of the track to hold any inductions this season without fans in attendance. The track, like all in the State of New York are not allowed to have any fans in the grandstands due to orders from Governor Andrew Cuomo.

“With no fans, I feel as if those persons would not be able to receive the proper recognition they so truly deserve,” Hazzard said.

The third class of the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Hall of Fame will be inducted in August of 2021. It will also be an extended class than fans of Glen Ridge are used to.

“We voted in favor of increasing the five-inductee limit for the Class of 2021,” LaGrange said. “Adding a few more inductees in 2021 can give a few more of those who helped shape The Ridge the respectful recognition they deserve.”

The committee adopted a five-inductee maximum in 2018 when they met to set the parameters for the Hall of Fame. This parameter was set to ensure that the Hall of Fame was reserved for those who truly deserve to be there.

“I think it’s a great plan,” Kriss said. “I agree that there should be fans present so those being recognized get some of the applause they truly deserve.”

The Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Hall of Fame Class of 2021 will be announced early next summer and enshrined in August.
