Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / GARY KAUFFMAN RACING – GETTYSBURG, PA – Despite a tough start to his One and Only/Capitani Classic outing at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, ‘Double-D’ Danny Dietrich persevered in a big way on Saturday night and earned his way into the 30-lap, $50,000-to-win Capitani Classic finale, eventually ending the evening 15th in the running order after starting 22nd.
The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania-native secured his place on the Capitani Classic starting grid by way of second-place finish during the evening’s B-Main.
Danny Dietrich, an eight-time feature winner in 2020, kicked-off his weekend at the Sprint Car Capital of the World with fifth and 11th-place finishes, respectively, during B-Main action on Thursday and Friday, August 13-14.
“Overall, those weren’t the results we were after, but to end the weekend on a high night says a lot about our team. The guys worked hard and never gave up. Knoxville can be pretty unforgiving, especially against a group like we raced against. You can’t make any mistakes,” Danny Dietrich said, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing, Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made, No. 48 sprint car. “We have another big weekend ahead of us. We’ll do what we can to earn a few more wins in Pennsylvania.”
Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2020 campaign with a Central Pennsylvania triple this Friday through Sunday, August 21-23. The team plans to visit Williams Grove Speedway, Lincoln Speedway and BAPS Motor Speedway, respectively.
