Port Royal Speedway Returns With Summer Championship for Super Late Models, 410 Sprint Cars, and Limited Late Models
Story By: JUSTIN SNYDER / PORT ROYAL SPEEDWAY – PORT ROYAL, PA – On the heels of two excellent nights of Pennsylvania Speedweek competition, the Port Royal Speedway returns to action this Saturday, June 11, with a three-division show featuring the Weikert’s Livestock 410 Sprint Cars, the River Valley Builders Super Late Models and the Selinsgrove Ford Limited Late Models.
Most recently in Weikert’s Livestock 410 Sprint Car competition, Kyle Larson picked up the victory at ‘The Speed Palace’ to wrap of the 2020 PA Speedweek title. Not only was the win the first career triumph at the Juniata County oval for Larson, but it put an end to a four-in-a-row streak at the Speedway by Anthony Macri.
Macri will be looking to get things back on track following a mechanical issue Saturday night, while current points leader Logan Wagner will be looking for his first triumph of the 2020 racing season. Wagner holds a 65-point advantage in the season standings over his father, Mike Wagner, followed by AJ Flick (-255), TJ Stutts (-295) and Lance Dewease (-315).
For the Super Late Models, it will be their Summer Championship night and they will be racing for an increased $3000 to win and it’ll also be $300 to start. They will partake in single car time trials for the first time this season and we will use the PA Speedweek format for the entirety of the night. We will also utilize ‘Deleware Restarts’ during all racing activities for the Super Late Models as well.
Rick Eckert was the last driver to visit victory lane in Super Late Model competition, but he stated last week in victory lane that he would be traveling in the coming weeks, so we’ll have a new winner this weekend. Gregg Satterlee has won twice this season as well entering the weekend.
Opening day victor, Trevor Feathers, currently holds the season standings points lead by 55 points over Colton Flinner. Mike Lupfer (-100), Andy Haus (-115) and last year’s champion Dylan Yoder (-120) complete the top five.
The Limited Late Models will make their second appearance of the season as well and last year’s champion Andrew Yoder picked up the win in mid-June when they last visited the Speedway. Yoder holds a 15-point advantage over Dillan Stake with Ryan Zook (-25), Devin Hart (-30) and Todd Snook (-35) filling out the top five.
Gates are set to open at 4:00pm EST, while racing is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm EST.
The Speedway will continue to operate using all CDC guidelines and we ask fans continue to practice social distancing measures. Masks are highly encouraged, and we continue to offer sanitizing stations throughout the facilities.
If you are sick or not feeling well, we ask that you please stay home out of the respect for your fellow race fans. The safety of our drivers, fans and employees remain a priority and for fans who can’t make it, racing will be available on PPV via FloSports and Speed Shift TV.
