Chris Madden Parts Ways With Scott Bloomquist Racing

Story By: SCOTT BLOOMQUIST RACING – MOORESBURG, TN – In 2019, Scott Bloomquist Racing began the expansion towards a two-car operation with Chris Madden fielding the #0M alongside the #0 house car driven by hall of famer, Scott Bloomquist.

The relationship immediately sparked success as the team went on to win the USA Nationals, Topless 100, North South 100 and much more. In 2020, the operation had its eyes set firmly on the goal of competing for a National Title with the World of Outlaws Series after securing backing from Drydene Performance Products.

Unfortunately, 2020 has caused distress for many different people/organizations due to the unexpected COVID-19 pandemic. Scott Bloomquist Racing and the dirt track industry as a whole has been no exception.

After having a successful trip out west to start the year, SBR went on to have several struggling moments in the early stages of the 2020 racing season. Scott Bloomquist debuted a NEW car which only saw 2 racing events before being crashed, Chris Madden also debuted a NEW car at Bulls Gap just a couple of weeks ago which also was crashed and heavily damaged on its first outing.

The compounding hardships have put SBR in a tough situation, leading Chris Madden and Scott Bloomquist Racing to mutually agree to part ways.

“Maintaining a full-time two car operation is just too much given the sports current state of costs, scheduling, income, and overall obligations while being committed to a national tour” said Cody Sommer, President of Scott Bloomquist Racing.

“Expanding to a two-car operation is tough enough by itself, let alone during a tough time in the sport and when you maybe are not getting the results you had hoped for. I believe a lot of those results are simply just due to being spread too thin in certain areas and the economics of our sport” said Sommer

Former SBR driver Chris Madden has no current plans of getting back behind the wheel and plans to focus on his family at this time. “I’m not sure what/if I plan to do anything in the future racing wise, but I know I plan to spend a lot of time with family now and watch my son play a lot of baseball” said Madden.

Scott Bloomquist Racing will resume forward with the #0 on the World of Outlaws Series Tour and continue to represent Drydene Performance Products as the primary partner for the remainder of the 2020 racing season. The #0 team heads to Cedar Lake Speedway this weekend for the Independence Day Spectacular on July 2nd-4th.
