Woodhull Raceway Set To Race For Second Week Without Fans In The Stands
Story By: STEVEN OVENS / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – After an opening night that saw 126 entries support Woodhull Raceway’s opening night to kickstart their 2020 season, race teams are ready to do it again.
Woodhull has had to open their season while the grandstands remain closed but that has not stopped the racers from getting out on “New York’s Toughest Bullring” and doing what they do best!
Schedule changes were announced this week that saw the ULMS Super Late Model show and annual Woodhull Raceway Fireworks Show be pushed back on the 2020 schedule due to the general admission grandstands being closed. Woodhull Raceway co-owner Nikki Brewer talked about rescheduling two major events on the calendar for 2020.
“These are two of our biggest events of the season and there’s no way we would even consider having them until our grandstands are open,” said Brewer.
“We know how much our fans are looking forward to finally seeing the Super Late Models back on our track, so we will look at rescheduling that hopefully in August if we can find a date that works. The Fireworks show will also move to August and we will later announce a date for that.”
Brewer expressed a great deal of gratitude toward the racers, families, sponsors and fans that have handled this whole situation with patience and grace. Fans made donations on Saturday night to see live streaming Facebook video of the 2020 season lid-lifter. Plans are in place to move that live stream to YouTube and fans are encouraged to stay tuned for more information on that.

The Pits will open at 4:00PM with the season opening driver’s meeting scheduled for 5:45PM at the pit shack. Hot Laps will fire off at 6PM and the first green flag from Tony Van Pelt will fly at 6:30PM. Pit passes are set at $35 with Pit Passes for ages under 12 being a reduced price of $20. All divisions will be draw/redraw, transponders will be used.
In lieu of fans being able to attend the race program in the grandstands, there will be a live video feed provided on the Woodhull Raceway YouTube page. There will be more information out this week on a way for fans to make a small donation for the live video coverage.
