Labor Night At The Ransomville Speedway Planned For June 12th

Story By: DAVE BUCHANAN / RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – Race fans from all walks of life come together every year at Ransomville Speedway to give back to the United Way of Greater Niagara during the annual Labor Night at the Races.

This year the Labor Night at the Races presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of WNY and in conjunction with the AFL/CIO Niagara-Orleans Labor Council will take place on Friday, June 12 at the “Big R” with a rain date of June 19.

The 12th annual Labor Night race program will feature five divisions of racing, including the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds, Investor’s Service Sportsman, Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks, Stevenson’s Hardware Novice Sportsman and Vintage Cars.

“We are very proud to be working with Ransomville Speedway once again to host the Labor Night at the Races,” said Jim Briggs, President of the Niagara/Orleans Labor Council and sub-director of the United Steel Workers. “The facility provides us with a fun and unique way to raise money for the United Way.”

To date, Labor Night has raised over $136,000 for the United Way of Greater Niagara. The event grows every year with more fans taking part of the special pre-race festivities, including a cookout, prize giveaway and a race car display. The Labor Night at the Races is also supported by Maxwell Murphy Attorneys at Law, Lewis & Lewis PC and M&T Bank.

Tickets for the 12th annual Labor Night at the Races can be purchased through Bill Jakobi, labor liaison with the AFL/CIO Niagara-Orleans Labor Council, or at the novelty stand on race nights once the season begins. Adult tickets are $20 with $10 tickets for kids 12 and under.
