Tyler Thompson Returns To Big Block Modified Action For Volusia’s DIRTcar Nationals

Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / JASON SIMMONS RACING – OSWEGO, NY – Tyler Thompson will return to the seat of his Jason Simmons Racing, Bicknell Racing Chassis DIRTcar Big Block Modified next week, as he is set to take part in the 49th annual DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park from February 11-15.

Thompson’s week of action in Florida will be his first in a DIRTcar Big Block Modified since his breakout performance at Charlotte’s World Finals in November.

Last year, Thompson also took part in the DIRTcar Nationals, qualifying for two of the four main events during the week, his first ever Super DIRTcar Series starts.

“We’re looking forward to getting back to Volusia,” said Thompson. “It is always nice going someplace for a second time. We have some experience now and our equipment is certainly in a better place than last February. I think with our momentum from the World Finals and the Chili Bowl Nationals; we should be in good shape for next week.”

Thompson has been busy this winter, having qualified for a preliminary A-Main in his first ever Chili Bowl Midget Nationals attempt, while also following the entire Indoor Auto Racing Championship TQ Midget schedule, with two top ten finishes.

The defending champion of Oswego Speedway’s Budweiser International Classic, Thompson is poised for a little ‘fun in the sun’ for five consecutive nights at Volusia Speedway Park.

Super DIRTcar Series action will run next week from Tuesday through Saturday, culminating with a $5,000 to win program to cap the week.
