RPW Column: Jordan Lawrence Has Penn Can & Orange County Fair Speedway On 2020 Schedule

RPW Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – MIDDLETOWN, NY – Jordan Lawrence had his first full season of Sportsman racing in 2019 and he has a lot of racing lined up for 2020.

“Our team is planning on running at Penn Can on Friday’s and OCFS on Saturday’s in 2020,” he said. “2019 was a good building block for our team. We ran Accord and OCFS for a couple of months last season. I was actually running better at OCFS, but I mainly ran Accord towards the end of the season. It was a busy season, but we enjoyed it and met a lot of great people.”

In the late season, his team returned to OCFS to race the Eastern States Weekend.

“We went back for to OCFS for the Eastern States Weekend and I really enjoyed racing on the new surface,” he said. “We are looking forward to running the whole season there.”

Jordan got started racing go karts at the Hamlin Speedway and Oakland Valley. He acquired a slingshot and ran that at Oakland Valley with a lot of success including 2 track championships. From there, he started racing a sprint car at Accord. It was the advice of a championship caliber driver that got him to get into a Sportsman.

“I was never all that comfortable driving the sprinter,” Lawrence said. “Danny Creeden said to me one night that I should get a Sportsman car, that it was better suited for my driving style. It was a great piece of advice.”

Jordan is very effusive of his praise to Danny.

“Danny has been such a big help to our team,” he said. “I wouldn’t be where I am now without the help from him and his crew. I do this as a hobby, so there’s much that I can learn from his experience. He and his crew are always there to help me out.”

Sponsor’s on the JL Racing #7 are Malley Pool Water, Rapid Tire, Goshen Sunoco, Our Town Party Rentals, and Dent Lizard. The team also appreciates the help they get from HigFab Chassis and Himmer Graphics.

In addition to the help from the Creeden crew, the pit crew consists of Jimmy Pidala Jr. & Sr., Dan Malley and Travis Barton.

When one talks to Jordan Lawrence, you can tell just how much he loves the sport and wants it to succeed. That’s a pretty awesome thing to see from a young driver and that’s the type of attitude that racing needs. He will hopefully enjoy his busy season that he has planned.
