Anthony Perrego Headed South For Short Track Super Series ‘Sunshine Swing’
Story By: BRETT DEYO / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – LAKE CITY, FL – For the first time, lucrative pay structures are being offered in the state of Florida this February.
And the Northeast’s top drivers are responding in a big way.
Anthony Perrego became the latest driver to file his entry for the ‘Sunshine Swing’ Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco inaugural trip to All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Fla.
The half-mile oval hosts an open practice on Wednesday, February 5 with three consecutive nights of racing to follow on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (February 6-8). Both the STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman will be in competition.
STSS Modifieds race for $5,000, $7,500 and ultimately $10,000 to win during the three nights of racing!
Perrego will make the trip south driving the Brian Smith-owned Superior Remodeling No. 44.
The second-generation driver from Middletown, N.Y., ranks third on the all-time Short Track Super Series Modified win list with six career victories at four different facilities. Perrego has won with the STSS at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway, Georgetown (Del.) Speedway twice, Accord (N.Y.) Speedway twice, and Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, N.Y.
Unlike many of the competitors heading to All-Tech for the first time in February, Perrego has turned laps at the speedway. He was part of a private test for chassis builder Teo-Pro car at the track last year.
“It’s a great facility,” offered Perrego, who was pleased to see the STSS swing scheduled. “The track gets wide and glasses over. I don’t see it as a big motor track. I think we will put on a really good show.”
