Rico Abreu Caps 2019 Sprint Car Season With Tribute To Gary Patterson Victory At Stockton

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / RICO ABREU RACING – ST. HELENA, CA – Although his winning streak was ultimately forced to end at six after brake issues during open 360 sprint car action at Stockton Dirt Track on November 1 cut all hope for a seventh straight trip to victory lane, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu did not allow the momentum shift to slow down his winning potential, eventually capping his two-day stint in Stockton with a Sprint Car Challenge Tour (SCCT) triumph during the Tribute to Gary Patterson on Saturday, November 2.

The $7,000 victory, Abreu’s second of the 2019 season with the 360 sprint car series, was accomplished in convincing fashion, eventually holding off fellow California-native, Shane Golobic, during the closing circuits. Abreu, who will officially close out his 2019 sprint car season with 13 victories, now owns five Tribute to Gary Patterson trophies.

In addition to his SCCT win, Abreu finished eighth during the King of the West-NARC portion of the Gary Patterson program, kicking things off with a fourth place performance during heat race action.

“It was another great weekend for our team. I think we left a little bit on the table during the King of the West race at Stockton, but we had things right where they needed to be for the Sprint Car Challenge Tour portion. I owe that all to my team. Things have been clicking and I’m more than proud of their efforts,” Rico Abreu said, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Gold State Restaurant Group/Lucas Oil Products/Southern Pacific Farms/Priority Aviation/Self Made Racing/Dancer Logistics/No. 24 sprint car. “We are already looking ahead to next year. Hopefully we can keep this momentum flowing until our next start in a sprint car.”
