CRSA Sprint Car Racers Return To Land Of Legends Saturday Night
Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / CRSA – CANANDAIGUA, NY – The stars and cars of the SuperGen Products with Champion Power Equipment CRSA Sprint Car Series are set to make their return to action Saturday evening at the Land of Legends Raceway.
The third visit of the season to the Canandaigua oval will be the tenth round of the overall schedule.
The 2019 season opened at the big half-mile oval with defending and two-time series champion Jeff Trombley picking up the win. Following the Altamont, New York driver across the line were Justin Mills, Jason Whipple, Johnny Kolosek and Jesse Pruchnik. Stop number two was one of the closest finishes in the history of the CRSA Sprint Car Series. Erik Karlsen edged David Ferguson by five one-thousandth of a second. Pruchnik, Trombley and John Scarborough rounded out the top five.
A look at the overall point standings shows Trombley out front and in prime position to win his third consecutive title. Trombley holds a 99-point lead over defending CRSA Rookie of the Year Mills. Defending Land of Legends Raceway Track Champion Darryl Ruggles holds down the third position, ten points behind Mills. Alysha Bay and Emily VanInwegen round out the top five.
The event will also be the third round of the CRSA/Land of Legends Raceway Five Star Series. Trombley also leads the mini-series standings, this time by six points over Karlsen. Pruchnik, Mills and Kolosek round out the top five.
