Mohawk International Cancels Friday’s Regular Program Due To Excessive Heat
By: TIM BALTZ / MOHAWK INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY – HOGANSBURG, NY – With temperatures rising into the 90s expected for this Friday, Mohawk International Raceway officials made the decision to cancel the events scheduled for Blevin’s Ford night at the speedway.
The concerns of MIR employees, members, staff, drivers and most importantly the race fans were on the minds of track management in making this decision. With excessive heat comes health concerns for everyone involved and rather than take the chance and go racing, it was best to wait until next Friday night when temperatures are better and everyone can enjoy the racing action.
Next Friday night a full program is on the card once again as Round two of the MIR Sportsman series for the Crossroads Tobacco Sportsman Series will headline the night along with a full show for the Twin Leaf Stores 358 Modifieds Novice Sportsman Mod Lites and Bandit divisions, the Enduro qualifier scheduled for this Friday will be made up at a later date.
Racing gets underway at 7:30pm next Friday with Canadian Money accepted at par at the main gates only. If you are traveling from Canada, remember to show your toll receipt at the main gate and receive a free bridge pass.
