USAC Eastern Storm To Invade Port Royal Speedway This Saturday Night
Story By: JUSTIN SNYDER / PORT ROYAL SPEEDWAY – PORT ROYAL, PA – There is a storm coming! And not the rain that Central Pennsylvania race fans have grown so accustomed to this season.
As part of the yearly Eastern Storm tour, the USAC wingless stars will invade Port Royal Speedway for an open wheel’s fans dream Saturday June 15 as they join the Weikert’s Livestock 410 Sprint Car for an exciting night of racing presented by SPRINTCARUNLIMITED.COM.
It will also be Eastern Museum of Motor Racing night and there will be Father’s Bus Rides in celebration of Father’s Day at the track.
Adult General Admission will be 25$ with Students (12-18 years of age) $10 and Pit Admission being $35.
The ‘Speed Palace’ has hosted the USAC wingless series since 2012 with past winners being Damion Gardner (2012), Dave Darland (2013), Brady Bacon (2014), Robert Ballou (2015), Bryan Clauson (2016) and Chris Windom (2017-2018).
Windom will be looking to make it 3 in a row at the Juniata County oval, but he’ll have to fend off the best that the series has to offer. The USAC feature will pay $6,000 to win.
CJ Leary comes into the PA swing as the current USAC AMSOIL National Sprint series points leader over Kevin Thomas Jr, Windom, Tyler Courtney and Chase Stockon.
Speaking of 3 in a row, Logan Wagner will be looking to add to his 3 straight Weikert’s Livestock 410 feature victories dating back to the Weikert Memorial finale 2 weeks ago. Last week, the defending points leader claimed $7,000 as he swept the night’s events and picked up both Twin 20 features.
Wagner currently leads Dylan Cisney by 190 points in search of his second track championship. Blane Heimbach, Mike Wagner and Ryan Taylor make up the rest of the top five and they’ll all be vying for the $4,000 winners share Saturday night and hoping to cut into his points lead as well.
Finally, Port Royal will continue with the Junior Fan of the Week promotion! Each week there will be a contest where a young fan ranging from 5-12 years old will be named the Junior Fan of the Week.
The fan will get to ride in the Pace Truck, receive a hat from Mel the Pace Truck Driver during opening ceremonies, throw the green flag for a heat race, receive a free hot dog and drink courtesy of Packer’s Concessions and a reserved parking spot for the night. A photo will also be taken during the night to commemorate the event.
Please sign up for a chance to be named the winner with Miss Port Royal Speedway from 4-6pm on race nights at the pavilion. Children may only win once per season and a winner for the following week will be drawn following the conclusion of the sprint car feature
