Bridgeport Speedway To Race On 3/8-Mile One More Time This Saturday

Story By: KOLBY RAMEY / BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY – BRIDGEPORT, NJ – The upcoming ‘Eastern Storm’ for the USAC wingless 410 sprint cars was slated to be the final showing this Wednesday for the Design for Vision/Sunglass Central 3/8 in 2019. However, due to scheduling and more importantly weather, Bridgeport Speedway has decided to race one more time on the 3/8 layout this coming weekend.

“We needed to be proactive this week with a midweek show and looking at the forecast,” explained owner Brian Ramey. “Rain is supposed to move in after midnight on Wednesday with heavy rain all day Thursday, which will make it all but impossible to get to and move the 14 light stands and get the heavy equipment onto the track to remove the added clay in turns 1 and 4. We’re not going to give the drivers an inadequate 5/8 to run on and the weather is bound to hinder our efforts. We wanted to get this information out as quickly as possible to the drivers so they can prepare properly heading into the weekend. I think the 3/8 has proven itself this past month and has had some tremendous racing in all divisions. With that being said, we are still looking forward to getting back on the 5/8 just as much….it’ll just be a week later that’s all.”

This Saturday will see the Spirit Auto Center Big Blocks, South Jersey Overhead Door 602 Crate Sportsman, Sunbelt Rentals Outlaw Stocks, and the D.A’.s Auto Body Rookies will all be in action. Pit gates open at 4pm with grandstands opening at 5:30pm with racing starting at 7pm. Saturday is also ‘Bike Night’ where all motorcycle riders will be admitted FREE of charge and 6 young race fans will go him with a bicycle courtesy of the Bridgeport Speedway drivers.
