Short Track Super Series To End Two-Year Absence From New Egypt On May 23rd

Story By: BRETT DEYO / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – NEW EGYPT, NJ – New Egypt Speedway is back on the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco schedule.

On Thursday, May 23, the STSS invades New Egypt for the first time since 2016 with the ‘Dirty Jersey 6’ headlined by the Velocita-USA big-block/small-block Modifieds presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central in Round No. 4 of the eight-race South Region.

STSS Modifieds race 40 laps for a winner’s share of $6,000 on the unique 7/16ths-mile, D-shaped facility.

On the heels of his most recent victory at Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, Del., on April 30, ‘Super’ Matt Sheppard of Savannah, N.Y., leads the Velocita-USA South Region $10,000 point battle into NES for the Hurlock Auto & Speed team.

Stewart Friesen at Georgetown, Del., on March 16, Anthony Perrego at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway March 24 and Sheppard at Delaware International April 30 have each registered a victory on the STSS South Region this season.

Joining the STSS Modifieds at NES are the potent 360 Sprint Cars of the Capitol Renegade United Racing Club (URC) in the ‘Turnpike 25’ offering $2,000 to the winner.

Race No. 3 of the STSS Crate 602 Sportsman South Region point battle completes the tripleheader event at New Egypt.

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. on May 23. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 4 p.m. The drivers’ meeting is planned for 5:30 p.m., with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.

Adult admission is $30. Seniors (ages 65 and up) pay $28. Teens (ages 12-15) and Military with ID pay $15. Kids 11 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $40 with no license required.
