Rain Forces Ransomville Speedway to Cancel for Third-Straight Week

Story By: DAVE BUCHANAN / RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – Ransomville Speedway has canceled racing for Friday, May 10 after heavy overnight rains fell on an already saturated facility. The driveway to the facility has been flooded and is not safe for pedestrians to pass through at this time.

This marks the third-straight Friday night speedway officials have been forced to call off on-track activity due to weather.

So far in 2019 the only laps run at the “Big R” were during a midweek practice session after the originally scheduled Test, Tune & Time Night was canceled. Speedway officials will hope the third time’s the charm to get the first race of the 2019 season in the books next Friday, May 17.

Fantasy Island, United Materials and Bailey Brothers Landscaping will present Autograph Night on May 17. Fans can meet their favorite drivers during an on-track autograph session. The Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds, Investors Service Sportsman, Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks, Gippster’s Collision Mini Stocks and Stevenson’s Hardware Novice Sportsman will hopefully get on track for their first competitive laps of the season. Racing starts at 7:15 p.m.

The twice postponed opening round of the Can-Am Thunder Stock Challenge will now be run next Friday. The first race of the Mini Stock Super Series between Ransomville and Genesee Speedways will not be made up.

The following Friday, May 24, is the first 4-Cylinder Demolition Derby of the season. Party suites are still available for this exciting event that also includes a $2,000-to-win 358 Modified feature. For details and pricing on suites please call the Ransomville Speedway office at (716) 791-362.
