He’s Figuring Out The High Banks; Peter Britten Wins First Of Career At Lebanon Valley

Story By: BOBBY CHALMERS / PETER BRITTEN RACING – WEEDSPORT, NY – It’s been one heck of a start to the 2019 season at Lebanon Valley for Peter Britten. Four races, three top fives, culminated with his first career win at the Valley of Speed on Saturday night.

Saturday night, the Australian by way of Weedsport, NY took off from his eighth starting position and began to march his way to the front. By lap two, he was in the top five. By lap 13, he was third. By lap 18, he worked his way around leader Eddie Marshall and was never challenged again.

“The Troyer 21a was flying tonight,” Britten said. “You never really know what you got when you’re racing as hard as we were. You pick guys off in front of you and it helps make you think you’ve got something pretty good, and we did tonight.”

The win was extra special for Peter, who has made his way to Eastern New York this season to race. He’s extremely excited and grateful for all of the support he’s received so far in 2019 and can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings.

“All of the crew help that I’ve got here is amazing,” he said. “I couldn’t be doing this without the guys that are supporting me. It’s great to have a lot of experience in my corner and I guess I’m starting to figure this place out. Oh, and the fans. I can’t forget the fans. They’ve been phenomenal…really welcomed me with open arms and I appreciate each and every one of them.”

Friday night was a tough night for Peter at Albany-Saratoga. Even though he felt he had a car that was capable of grabbing a top five finish, circumstances out of his control derailed that thought.

Friday was a little frustrating,” he said. “It took a little while to get the car going. When I did start to move forward and make progress, I got shoved off the backstretch and lost like a dozen spots. At that point in the race, any hopes of a good finish were gone.”

Peter did rebound and get back to 12th when the 35-lap event was over. Unfortunately, his plan to run Sunday at Weedsport was washed out by Mother Nature. Next up for Peter and company is three races in four days. He’ll run Albany-Saratoga again on Friday and Lebanon Valley on Saturday. He’ll then get ready to run the Super DIRTcar Series Heroes Remembered 100 at Weedsport on Monday.
