Double Big Block Features At Bridgeport This Saturday Night
Story By: KOLBY RAMEY / BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY – SWEDESBORO, NJ – The Bridgeport Speedway has a full Saturday night of racing action planned for the Design for Vision/Sunglass Central 3/8 mile track on June 1, 2019 – five divisions plus double Big Block Modified features all for the regular admission price!
The Spirit Auto Center Big Block Modifieds will be competing in two twenty-five lap feature events. The line-up for the first feature has already been determined by qualifying that took place on May 11 before rain forced the cancellation of the feature events. The Big Block Modifieds will also compete in qualifying events to determine the starting field for the second feature event.
Billy Pauch just added his name to the list of Modified winners on the 3/8th mile track. Last season, Jeff Strunk picked up a pair of wins on the Design for Vision/Sunglass Central Speedway with Ryan Godown cashing in for a single victory in the Three for All event. This past weekend, Bridgeport’s winningest driver, Jimmy Horton, added his name to the list of Modified winners on the 3/8th mile surface.
The South Jersey Overhead Door 602 Crate Sportsman will compete in qualifying events and a twenty lap feature. So far this season, Wayne Weaver, Eric Kormann and Matt Peck have gone to Victory Lane on the 3/8th mile track with Kormann being the only driver to pick up two wins. Jim Gallagher has been a runner-up on three different occasions this season and is looking to break into the Winner’s Circle. Steve Kemery has been the man to beat on the 5/8th mile track but is still looking for his first win on the Design for Vision/Sunglass Central surface.
The Delaware Auto Exchange Mid Atlantic Sprint Series will be on hand. Jeff Geiges earned his first win of the season and his first win on the new Bridgeport surface earlier this month while fellow MASS competitor, Eddie Wagner went into the record books last season as the first driver to win on all three Bridgeport tracks – the Spirit quarter mile, the 3/8ths and the 5/8ths.
The DA’s Auto Body & Repair Rookies will compete in their fourth race of the season. Justin Moench owns a win on the 3/8th mile in addition to his victory on the 5/8th. Scott Maher, Jr. picked up a win in the second Rookie event which was also run on the 3/8th mile track.
The 8 Cylinder Enduros made their first appearance on the Design for Vision/Sunglass Central track and found it very much to their liking. The Vintage cars will also be a part of this big show to start off the month of June.
All this for one low price of $20 for adult grandstand seating, $10 for students 10-15 with children 9 and under admitted for free.
Pit gates will open at 4 with fans gaining admission to the grandstands at 5:30.
