Crate Sportsman Set To Go 30 Laps This Weekend At Woodhull Raceway
Story By: MEGAN DUPUY / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL,NY – Mother Nature has not been kind to racers, pulling rain and cold windy weather the past two weeks. They say third time’s the charm and we’re about to find out if it’s true this Saturday.
Alfred State College and Kickin’ Country 105.3FM are this week’s sponsor, hosting a 30-lap NAPA Crate Sportsman race.
Kickin’ Country 105.3FM, located in Hornell, NY, is the area leader in popular country music. They have also supported the Steuben County third-mile bullring for several seasons and are a major partner in sharing the weekly race card with their loyal listeners.

Alfred State College is located in Alfred, NY. It is a public college and is one of eight technology schools in the SUNY system. They offer 19 different areas to receive a bachelor’s degree in, over 50 areas for an associates degree and several certificates. The racing action for this Saturday, May 4 will include a complete show with the NAPA Crate Sportsman running 30-laps in their feature event. Classes include the Insinger Performance Modifieds, NAPA Crate Sportsman, Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, Cummings Trucking Crate Late Models, Daugherty Auto Sales and Service Mini Stocks & Warriors, and Johnson’s Auto Supply FWD.
Along with this week’s racing action is Woodhull Raceway’s bed sheet banner contest. Fans are encouraged to make a bed sheet banner to display and be judged during intermission this weekend. Awards and prizes will be given for 1st-3rd place and honorable mention.
The dirt track action will start at 6:00 with hot laps with heats starting at 6:30.
Fans can find their way into the grandstands Saturday at 4:30 for only $12 for adults 13 and up. Seniors and ages 8-12 will be $6. Children 7 and under are always free at Woodhull Raceway. Free camping is offered on the speedway grounds for those wishing to make it a weekend of family, friends and dirt track racing.
