Cody Bleau & The Hoyenga #73 Keep Rolling; Grab First Top Five Of Season At Fonda
Story By: BOBBY CHALMERS / CODY BLEAU RACING – DEFREESTVILLE, NY – Cody Bleau was able to receive a big shot in the arm on Saturday night at the Fonda Speedway as the former Sportsman track champion finished a solid fourth in the 30-lap Modified feature for his second-straight top 10 of 2019.
Bleau and his Greg’s Towing #73 started the feature strong and even led a handful of laps. He was passed by a couple of competitors and that’s when he was able to find the groove he needed.
“When Stewart (Friesen), (Bobby) Varin and (Demetrios) Drellos got by me, I went searching,” Bleau said. “That’s when I found that the top was the place to be and my DKM Cyclone really hooked up well on the outside.”
Cody then began to make a march back up the leaderboard.
“I was able to pass Drellos back and began to catch Bobby,” he said. “Towards the end of the race, after Stewart broke, my right rear tire started to go away. However, we held on for fourth.”
With the good run, could Cody have done anything different to finish even better?
“I just wish I hadn’t used up the tires so early,” he said. “No matter what, this was great for our team. I can’t thank my guys enough for all their hard work, all my sponsors and everyone from DKM for their help.”
The first top five of 2019 for the Laudy Hoyenga-owned car is a big shot of confidence for Bleau. He now has two solid runs in consecutive weeks and has moved to ninth in Modified points at the “Track of Champions.”
“This is huge for our program,” he said. “Seems like all the issues we’ve had, along with getting our second car race-ready, have finally turned around and we’re getting the results we deserve. It’s been a busy couple of weeks with no rest but these great runs sure make up for it. I can’t wait to get back to Fonda this week.”
Up next for Cody and the #73 team is another action-packed night of racing at the “Track of Champions,” Fonda Speedway, this Saturday. The Modifieds will take to the track for great 30-lap main event with racing scheduled to start at 7pm.
