Bailey, Vlasic and Llord Score Opening Night Wins at New Humberstone Mother Nature Claims Rest of Program

Story By: STEVE PETTY / NEW HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY – PORT COLBORNE, ONT. CA – The New Humberstone Speedway opened up the gates for their 60th season opener presented by the Seaway Mall Sunday night and it looked like the racing action was going to get completed, but Mother Nature had other ideas as the rains came and forced Speedway management to pull the plug on the remaining action, which was to feature the UMP Modifieds featuring Ken Schrader.

Feature action was held for the JC Auto Thunderstocks with Hagersville, Ontario’s Dave Bailey getting the win. Welland’s Craig Vlasic picked up the win in the Glo and Go Tanning Mini Stocks, and St. Catharines pilot Dylan Llord scored the win in the Airhardt Deliveries Pro 4 Trucks. Double features for the Cosco Haulage DIRTcar Sportsman and the Pro Fabrication RUSH Late Models will take place next Sunday, May 26. Speedway management will work the organizers with the UMP Modifieds about a reschedule date.

“Brewster Baker” Dave Bailey from Hagersville, Ontario returned to victory lane after winning the main event for the JC Auto Thunderstocks. Bailey would score the win over defending track champion Jason Fontaine.

Craig Vlasic took his number 44 to the lead and the win in the main event for the Glo and Go Tanning Mini Stocks. The SOS Towing team of track champions Dylan Llord and Mitch Dumont continued their dominance of the Airhardt Deliveries Pro 4 Trucks division as Llord scored the win on opening night over Dumont. Heat races were completed for the UMP Modifieds, DIRTcar Sportsman, and RUSH Late Models.

Racing action continues next Sunday night, May 26th as Stoneridge Specialty Insurance presents the return of the NY6A Micro Sprint Tour plus the first race at Humberstone for the Can-Am Thunder Stock Challenge between Ransomville and Humberstone. The Sportsman, Late Models, Mini Stocks, and Pro 4 Trucks are on the card. Showtime is at 6:30 pm.
