Cornwall Motor Speedway; A Strong Supporter Of DIRTcar Northeast

Story By: JOE GRABIANOWSKI / DIRTCAR – CONCORD, NC – Cornwall Motor Speedway is one of DIRTcar’s strongest supporters. Their Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championship Sunday night show includes three DIRTcar sanctioned divisions. The 358 Modifieds, Sportsman Modifieds, and Pro Stocks race head-to-head every week at the Long Sault, Ontario oval. Some of the best up and coming stars in the northeast race weekly at Cornwall.

Drivers and fans hope to ring in the 50th year of operation with another competitive and successful season in 2019. With three DIRTcar divisions, Cornwall Motor Speedway has established itself as one of the premier racing facilities in Canada. Here’s how it all shook out last year.

Carey Terrance, in the No. 66x 358 Modified, took the 2018 Cornwall Motor Speedway Track Championship in 2018. He had to hold off the always fast Kyle Dingwall and Corey Wheeler, both of whom plan to participate in the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series in 2019. The high level of competition runs deep as Joey Ladouceur and Mario Clair rounded out the top five in points as well.

The DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Cornwall Motor Speedway Track Championship was just as competitive. The Chevy Performance 75 NAPA Super DIRT Week XLVII winner Shane Pecore took the Track Championship last year, but he had to fend off Brianna Ladouceur and Justin Lalancette. In total, over 70 DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds took on Cornwall over the 2018 season.

DIRTcar Pro Stock hot shoe C.D. Beauchamp was good enough for the Track Championship last year. Beauchamp had the most wins in the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series last year, which included the DIRTcar Pro Stock 50 at Oswego, so he was tough to beat. Stephane Lebrun finished close behind in second. The DIRTcar Pro Stock Series Champion Jocelyn Roy rounded out the 2018 Cornwall Track Championship podium.

Aside from the Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championship racing, Cornwall Motor Speedway also hosts all four DIRTcar Northeast premier series.

The DIRTcar 358 Modified Series rolls into town on Sunday, July 14. On August 22, the DIRTcar Sportsman Series North Region pounds the Cornwall clay in support of $10,000-to-win Race for the Cure 150, featuring DIRTcar 358 Modifieds.

The DIRTcar Pro Stock Series kicks off their 2019 Championship at Cornwall on Sunday, July 7. The tour regulars will have plenty of stiff local competition and are anxious to get their season underway.

And lastly, the thunder of the Big-Block Modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series will run the $7,500-to-win O Canada 100 on Sunday, June 30. The stars are cars of the Super DIRTcar Series put on a tremendous show last year, and race fans are amped for their return to the Eastern Ontario speedway.
