RPW Exclusive: Superman Jonathan Davenport Dominates Southern All Stars March Madness

Story By: ROBERT SYMONDS / RACE PRO WEEKLY – GAFFNEY, SC – The first race of the Southern All Stars Late Model Series started out on the wrong foot March 2nd. Officials were forced to push back March Madness to Sunday Afternoon March 24th which turned out to be a perfect day for racing. With the sun out and the temperatures favorable, it was a great day for racing in Gaffney.

26 Southern All Stars Late Models turned time around the 3/8th mile dirt oval. Among those in the field were Jonathan Davenport, Chris Madden, Jimmy Owens, Chris Ferguson and Brandon Overton. It was Superman Jonathan Davenport taking quick time with a 15.921 followed by Jimmy Owens with a 15.949. In the qualifying heats, Davenport, Owens, Ross Bailes, and Rambo Franklin took wins.

In the March Madness A-Main event, Jonathan Davenport lead 59 of the 60 laps to take the win over Ross Bailes, Jimmy Owens, Michael Page, and David Breazeale.
