Woodhull Sets ’19 Practice & Opening Weekend Dates; Arnot Mall Car Show Set For 10th Anniversary
Story By: STEVEN OVENS / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – Woodhull Raceway owners and promoters Ted and Brandi White are happy to announce the opening weekends of action that will begin the 55th consecutive season of racing ‘in the boonies.’
The high-banked third-mile Steuben County speedplant will roar to life for the first time in 2019 with two weekends of Open Practice sessions on April 6 and April 13. Typically April 13 or thereabouts would be the first race of the season for the track’s support divisions, but races scheduled in the area that weekend were a cause of concern for mainly weekly supporters.
Ted White was more than happy to try and help accommodate his weekly supporters.
“We don’t want to put our weekly supporters in a jam that weekend when they have pit passes, entries and resources tied up in that rescheduled event,” said White. “We always keep our racers and fans at the forefront at Woodhull and will just host an extra practice session for those that want it if the weather allows it.”
Open Practice for any car, any division, any tire will be held on both April 6 and April 13 from 5PM-9PM. Pit passes will be $15 each and the general admission area will be open free of charge for fans looking for their first on-track fix of the season.
This change in schedule will slide the first points show of the year to Saturday April 20, with the tentative plans calling for the annual 30-lap $1,000-to-win event for the Crate Late Models. Joining the RUSH sanctioned dirt late models will be the Crate Sportsman, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Mini Stocks, Front Wheel Drives and the Woodhull Warriors.
The following week on April 27, the mighty Modifieds will roar to life with their season opener along with all other divisions in action. Future updates on special events will be forthcoming as the offseason winds down.
Swarthout Recycling To Present 2019 Car Show For 10th Straight Year March 15-17
‘New York’s Toughest Bullring’ is gearing up for their 2019 season- their 55th consecutive season of racing at the Woodhull, NY facility founded by the Williams family and now owned and promoted by Ted and Brandi White.
But before any laps are turned on the Steuben County third-mile oval, racers and fans can look forward to the annual Arnot Mall Car Show, which will be sponsored once again by Swarthout Recycling for the 10th year in a row on Friday March 15 through Sunday March 17. Woodhull’s car show is annually one of the busiest weekends for the Arnot Mall, located directly off Interstate 86 in Big Flats, NY and the 2019 version expects to be no different.
Swarthout Recycling is a well-known supporter of local motorsports located in Beaver Dams, NY. They specialize in scrap metals including mixed steel, aluminum, copper, brass and cast iron. The recycling department accepts cardboard, newspaper, mixed office paper and junk mail, clear and green glass, tin and plastic.
Swarthout is also a race fan’s go-to source for household and commercial refuse. Their large fleet of trucks and equipment has one of the area’s largest assortments of roll-off canisters in various sizes. They can also provide front-loading trash dumpsters in 2, 4, 6, and 8 cubic yard sizes for commercial refuse.
As if those services weren’t enough, Swarthout Recycling also can provide demolition, long haul trucking and a state-of-the-art mobile document destruction vehicle for safe and secure shredding of delicate records and documents.
The always-potent Woodhull racing community will line the halls of the Arnot Mall starting with move-in night on Friday March 15 as the mall closes business that evening. A driver’s information meeting will be held at 8:30PM in Center Court. Saturday and Sunday will be the official start of the car show with the raceway having a large display in center court.
One twist for 2019 will feature a driver autograph session planned for 12 Noon on Saturday March 16 in Center Court. Many drivers have already been confirmed for the autograph session with room, for more drivers to sign up. Drivers participating are encouraged to have photos or driver hero cards available to sign for their fans.
For the fourth year in a row, Woodhull Raceway is proud to bring back the Team Pit Stop Competition held in center court on Saturday afternoon, slated to begin at 2:00PM.
Teams of three will be accepted featuring a jack man, tire carrier and tire changer, with crew members being allowed to enter the contest on only one team. The competition will feature changing a right rear tire in the fastest amount of time without leaving any lug nuts loose.
