Using Momentum From A Great 2018, Cody Bleau’s Looking For More At Fonda This Season

Story By: BOBBY CHALMERS / CODY BLEAU RACING – DEFREESTVILLE, NY – In 2017, Cody Bleau was named the DIRTcar Northeast Big Block Modified Rookie of the Year. In 2018, he parlayed that honor into several strong runs and a sixth place finish in points at the Fonda Speedway. For 2019, he wants more.

It was announced in December that Bleau would return to the seat of the Laudy Hoyenga-owned #73 Modified at Fonda for the upcoming season. The ‘Track of Champions’ has always been home for the likeable racer from Defreestville, NY and he’s excited to go back this year in search of his first career Big Block win.

I can’t wait to get back to Fonda this year,” Bleau said. “It’s one of the best race tracks in the country and I would love to put my name on the all-time wins list next to guys like Jumpin’ Jack, Super CD, Dave Lape and so many other legends.”

This season, the speedway will have a new promoter at the helm with Short Track Super Series’ head man Brett Deyo taking control of the track. New management has already produced several exciting changes to the facility as well as the schedule and that’s something Cody is glad to see.

“I’m looking forward to having Brett (Deyo) at Fonda,” he said. “He’s a great guy and the kind of person our sport needs. This could be huge for our track.”

Last season at Fonda, Bleau finished a career-best sixth in the season standings. While he didn’t win, he ran very strong on several occasions. However, even with those good runs, Cody feels he still has some unfinished business at his Saturday night home.

“I’m hoping to have better results than we did last year,” he said. “I want our team to be the best we can be. We’ve still got some work to do on the cars but we’ll be ready to go when Fonda opens in April.”

Speaking of cars, Cody and his team will now be completely in the DKM Fabrication / Cyclone Chassis camp for 2019. Since he’s been with the Hoyenga team, Bleau’s been running a Troyer race car. For this season, he’ll have a new teammate in Dave Constantino (co-owner of DKM Fabrication) and the team will make the complete transition to Cyclones.

“I’ve never driven one of these cars before but I can’t wait,” he said. “I’m looking forward to working with Kyle (Hoffman), Dave and Eric (Mack) at DKM and learning as much as I can from them. Having Dave as a teammate will be very convenient and help out a lot. Several drivers are having success with their cars so I’m hoping we can continue that as well.”

Cody and his team would like to thank all of their current marketing partners for their continued support, and they include: Hoyenga Racing, Greg’s Towing & Repair, Hometown Pub & Grub, Chris Bleau Carpentry, Integra Shocks by Race Prep, DKM Race Cars, and Bobby Chalmers Public Relations.
