RPW Exclusive: Larry Wight Returning To Super DIRTcar Series Full Time In 2019
Story By: ROBERT SYMONDS / RPW – PHOENIX, NY – After winning the 2018 Billy Whittaker Cars 200 at the Oswego Speedway for NAPA Super Dirt Week XLVII, Larry Wight had not officially announced his plans for the 2019 Race Season but that had all changed today.
Gypsum Racing decided to disclose to the Super DIRTcar Series that Larry Wight will be piloting the FX Caprara Chevrolet number 99L full time in 2019. Wight will join Gypsum teammate Billy Decker as the two full time drivers in the Series for Gypsum Racing.
In talks with 99L pit crew member Jacob Pietrowicz, Wight will be also racing weekly at the Brewerton Speedway on Friday nights. Fulton plans for Wight are unclear at this point but will be racing there “a few times.” This is a change from his 2018 schedule, as Wight raced a limited schedule due to his work commitments after starting up his own trucking business.
With all the news of Decker and Wight, not much was discussed for Pat Ward. For plans of Gypsum Racing’s third driver Pat Ward, he will stick with pretty much the same schedule as last year, running at Brewerton, Fulton, and Utica Rome on a weekly basis. Ward also ran a limited schedule with the Super DIRTcar Series and on occasion made it to some unsanctioned shows.
