New NASCAR Cup Mustang On Display At Motorsports 2019; Teo To Unveil Car Of New Driver / Owner Combo Racing Their Chassis In ’19
Story By: ERNIE SAXTON / SAMMONS PRODUCTIONS – OAKS, PA – The 34th edition of the Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports 2019 Racecar & Trade Show Fueled By Sunoco Race Fuels Distributed by Insinger Performance is set for Friday, January 18th thru Sunday, January 20th at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.
More than 200,000 square feet of show space will be filled with just about everything imaginable in motorsports.
NASCAR Hall of Famers Ray Evernham and Darrell Waltrip along with Ryan Preece, NASCAR Cup Rookie of the Year contender, will be headlining the show with more than 200 motorsports vehicles on display.
One of those race cars will be a new 2019 Ford Mustang body NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series bodied car. On display will be a Stewart Haas No. 14 to be driven by Clint Bowyer when the series opens in Daytona International Speedway in February.
The Motorsports show schedule will make it easier to get around to see what is happening during the three days of activities. More information is available by going to the show web-site, motorsportstradeshow.com.
Tickets are available at the Expo Center box office beginning on hour before the show opens each day. Adults are $15, children 6 to 12 are $5. Those under six are free. All children are admitted free with an adult on Sunday.

You must have a ticket for the show which opens at 2 PM. This will allow you easy entrance to the show when it is officially opened.

2:00 – 3:00 PM: AUTOGRAPHS: RAY AND ERIN EVERNHAM (D Hall Evernham Car Display) NASCAR Hall of Famer Ray Evernham and his wife Erin will be greeting fans and signing autographs. Evernham raced in asphalt Modified competition in the northeast before embarking on a career in NASCAR. His ulimate achievements came as a crew for Jeff Gordon on Rick Hendrick’s No. 24 championship team. Erin Crocker Evernham was a successful female Sprint Car driver in the northeast. Erin is the only female winner of a World of Outlaw 410 Sprint car race and the only lady to ever qualify for the Knoxville Nationals (she did that twice). She currently works as an announcer for MRN’s Winged Nation.
3:00 – 4:00 PM: LINCOLN SPEEDWAY PRESS CONFERENCE (E-Hall Stage) – A major announcement by Lincoln Speedway in Hanover, Pa. that is expected to catapult the historic speedway to new heights followed by a question and answer session from the racing press on hand for the occasion. Attendees are encouraged to attend the Press Conference to be the first to hear the exciting news.
3:00 – 5:30 PM: MUD BOSS RACING OPEN PRACTICE (C-Hall R/C Raceway) – Dirt Modified style radio controlled race cars will be practicing for racing later in the day on a speedway set-up at the show.
4:00: CAR UNVAILING (B-Hall Booth No. 638) – Stop over the Teo-Pro Car display to see the uncovering of a brand new dirt Modified driver/owner combination that will be racing their chassis this season.
4:30 – 5:30 PM: READING HIGHLIGHTS (E-Hall Stage) – Video presentation of past racing action at Pa.’s Reading Fairgrounds Speedway which closed 40 years ago.
5:30 – 6:30 PM: READING MEMORIES (E-Hall Stage) – Meet some of the super stars, hear the stories and watch video of the great days of racing at the former Reading, Pa. Fairgrounds on the 40th anniversary of the closing of the speedway. Special guests will include the track’s all-time leading feature winner Kenny Brightbill who won 135 features in the Modified division. Gerald Chamberlain, ranked second with 92 wins will also be on hand along with Jimmy Horton who despite racing weekly at the East Windsor Speedway won 14 features at the speedway. Other drivers include John Kozak, Garry Gollub, Glenn Fitzcharles and Ronnie Leimbach plus car owner Ronnie Kehl. Three noted motorcycle riders who enjoyed success at Reading, Donald Myers Sr., James Varnes and George Longabaugh will also be a part of the show.
6:00 – 9:00 PM: MUD BOSS RACING (C-Hall R/C Raceway) – Dirt Modified style radio controlled race cars will be in action on a speedway set-up at the show. Stop by and watch qualifying races leading up to feature events. Stop by their pit area and watch them work on their cars and prepare their tires as they search for the winning set-up. The scaled down dirt Modifieds will be competing in a national event at the show in Mud Boss 13.5, Open Modified, Sportsman, JR Mud Boss (Newbies) and 17.5 Sprints. The event is being presented by Rushland R/C Speedway by Torodyne.
7:15 – 8:15 PM: ONE-ON-ONE WITH RAY AND ERIN EVERNHAM (E Hall Stage) – NASCAR Hall of Famer Ray Evernham and his wife Erin will come to the stage to share great moments from their racing career. Evernham raced in asphalt Modified competition in the northeast before embarking on a career in NASCAR. His ulimate achievements came as a crew for Jeff Gordon on Rick Hendrick’s No. 24 championship team. Evernham then brought Dodge back to NASCAR racing after forming his own team with drivers Bill Elliott and Kasey Kahne. Before marrying Ray, Erin Crocker was a successful female Sprint Car driver in the northeast. Erin went full-time with the World of Outlaws where she remains today the only female winner in WoO 410 Sprint car competition and the only lady to ever qualify for the Knoxville Nationals (she did that twice). She currently works as an announcer for MRN’s Winged Nation.

1:00 – 3:00 PM: AUTOGRAPHS: RYAN PREECE (E-Hall Stage Area) – NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series Rooke of the Year candidate Ryan Preece of Berlin, Conn. will be signing autographs. Preece, the 2013 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, tested the waters in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series two years ago and took impressive victories in Iowa and Kentucky. His financial gamble paid off when Joe Gibbs offered him to drive his Toyota’s more often. This past year he added a third victory on the high banks of Bristol, Tenn. Properly showcasing his talents, Preece has signed to drive the No. 47 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for JTG Daugherty Racing in 2019 full-time on the Cup series.
1:00 – 2:00 PM: AUTOGRAPHS (Pioneer Pole Buildings Display – 104): Dirt Modified drivers Davey Sammons, Kevin Hirthler and Brian Hirthler. Quarter Midget driver Jesse Hirthler and Slingshot ace Brett Bieber will all be a part of this group.
1:00 – 4:00 PM: MUD BOSS RACING (C-Hall R/C Raceway) – Dirt Modified styled radio controlled race cars will be in action on a speedway set-up at the show. Stop by and watch qualifying races leading up to feature events. Stop by their pit area and watch them work on their cars and prepare their tires as they search for the winning set-up. 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM – AUTOGRAPHS (Coastal 181 Booth No. 816): KEN TREMONT SR. & JR. will be signing copies of the brand-new book “Modifieds Of the Valley” on racing over the years at N.Y.’s Lebanon Valley Speedway. The Tremonts, of Averill Park, NY, have campaigned Modifieds for decades and are unquestionably one of the most successful father/son teams in American racing history. Together they have an astounding 324 victories, and a slew of track and series championships. The Tremonts will be bringing the beautiful No. 115 Tremont driven Olsen built Modified that will be on display during the entire show.
2:30 – 4:30 PM: AUTOGRAPHS: DARRELL WALTRIP (E Hall Stage) – Darrell Waltrip is a three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and a three-time NASCAR Cup Series runner-up. Waltrip won 84 NASCAR Cup Series races, including the 1989 Daytona 500, a record five in the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, N.C. and a track and Series record for any driver at Bristol Motor Speedway with 12 (seven consecutive from 1981 to 1984).The man known as “Jaws” took his talents to television broadcasting when he retired and he’s become a favorite on the Fox broadcasts of NASCAR events since his retirement as a driver.
2:00 – 2:45 PM: READING SPEEDWAY REUNION (C-Hall Reunion Area) – Special Autographs of top drivers who competed at the speedway will be broken up in two sessions. This groups will be for drivers with the last name that starts with A – H: Gary Balough, Bobby Braxton, Freddy Brightbill, Kenny Brightbill, Lee Brison, Aaron Brommer, Alan Carter, Gerald Chamberlain, Frank Cozze, Earl Derr, MeMe DeSantis, Dave Drevicki, Bobby Eppihimer, Donn Eskey, LeRoy Felty, Glenn Fitzcharles, Harry Garber, Bill Gensler, Garry Gollub, Butch Green, Ronnie Guinther, Scott Haus, Darrell Herman, Tim Higgins, Jimmy Horton and Bob Johnson. 4:00 – 5:00 PM: MAGIC ACT (Pioneer Pole Buildings Display – 104) – Magician Kevin Shelly will entertain and amaze.

4:30 – 5:15 PM: AUTOGRAPH SESSION (Area Auto Racing News booth No. 224) – Top 2018 northeast race winner MATT SHEPPARD will be joined by divisional winners in other divisions signing a special color poster given away free. Sheppard won 26 dirt Modified races in 2018 to lead all drivers in that division as well. He’s now been the top northeast winner for the last three seasons. MATT HIRSCHMAN (asphalt Modified) TOM FEARN (asphalt Late Model) and GARRETT BARD (600 Micro Sprint) will be included in this autograph session.
5:00 – 6:00 PM: CELEBRITY MUD BOSS RACE (C-Hall R/C Raceway) – Top drivers from big-car racing will be matched up in celebrity Mudd Boss R/C car races. Drivers to compete will include Ryan Preece, Mike Gular, Rick Laubach, Jeff Strunk, Robbie Stillwaggon, Michael Bednar, Brett Michalski and Ryan Godown.

12:30 – 1:30 PM: HODNETT FAMILY BENEFIT AUCTION (E- Hall Stage Area) – Over 40 racing items from national and local Sprint car racers will go up for auction to benefit the family of driving great Greg Hodnett who was killed in a crash in September.
Top items included so far are a signed door panel from Kyle Larson’s NASCAR car, signed piece of Jimmie Johnson’s NASCAR car, a Kasey Kahne Sprint car wing panel, Greg Hodnett race-worn helmet and suit, Hodnett No. 27 wing panel. Auction items will be on display during the show at a D-Hall (front entrance) display. Several items will be available during the show at a silent auction. Greg’s wife Sherry will be attending the event.
12:30 – 1:30 PM: KIDS’ BIG WHEEL RACES sponsored by RAACE Foundation (C- Hall) – Children in three age groups (3-4, 5-6,7-9) race for prizes and large trophies! Big Wheels are supplied (no one can use their own); and there is no entry fee, or need to pre-enter. Just sign up at the show before 1 PM on Sunday.
2:00 – 3:00 PM: LITTLE MISS MOTORSPORTS (E- Hall Stage Area) – Girls in two age groups (“Tiny” 4-7 and “Little Miss” 8 -11) will compete for two crowns! There is no entry fee. Parents can sign up their daughter up until 11:30 a.m. at the stage area.
