Most Popular Drivers Announced For 2018 At Afton; Time Running Out To Purchase Banquet Tickets
Story By: JR KENNERUP / AFTON MOTORSPORTS PARK – AFTON, NY – Afton Motorsports Park track promoter Ronnie Ford has announced the 2018 Most Popular Driver Award winners for each division from the 2018 racing season.
This award is voted on by the fans who purchased the Afton Motorsports Park Racing Program throughout the season and filled out and turned in the ballot that was in the program.
All winners will be honored with the presentation of the award at the upcoming Saturday January 26th Banquet, which takes place at the Afton River Club in Afton, NY.
Tickets are now on sale until January 19th for $45 a ticket, with no tickets sold at the door. The ticket price includes drink specials at the bar, an all you wish to eat dinner buffet, dessert, coffee, award presentations and dancing to DJ Bob.
In the ZMK Construction Modified division, veteran driver Paul Jensen of Edmeston, NY was voted by the fans as the Most Popular Modified Driver of 2018.
Over in the Chambers & O’Hara Open Sportsman division there as a tie with two veteran drivers claiming the honors. Bainbridge, NY driver Skip Pickwick and Craig Pope of Rockdale, NY will both be recognized as Most Popular Open Sportsman Drivers of 2018.
While in the Butler Auto Sales Crate Sportsman division, Bobby Flood of Pine Bush, NY was voted by the fans as the Most Popular Crate Sportsman Driver of 2018.
The Trophy Guy IMCA Modified division saw veteran driver Gary Roberts of Nineveh Junction, NY win the Most Popular IMCA Modified Driver of 2018.
Over in the Rinker Insurance Agency Street Stock division Walton, NY driver Dave Cronk was voted as the Most Popular Street Stock Driver of 2018.
The Four Cylinder Truck division saw Norwich, NY driver Jerry Lanfair being named as Most Popular Four Cylinder Truck Driver of 2018.
The final event on the Afton Motorsports Park 2018 racing calendar takes place on Saturday January 26th. As the season ending Banquet takes place at the Afton River Club. Tickets are now on sale and only available until January 19th for $45 a ticket and no tickets will be sold at the door. The top five in points for the Modifieds, Open Sportsman, Crate Sportsman, IMCA Modifieds, and Street Stocks will be honored and the top three in the Four Cylinder Truck division will be honored. All drivers who are in these positions in the 2018 point standings are reminded that attendance at the Banquet is mandatory to receive the post season point fund monies.
