Action Sprint Tour Announces 10-Race Schedule For Second Season In 2019

Story By: CLAYTON JOHNS / ACTION SPRINT TOUR – OHSWEKEN, ONT – After a successful inaugural season in 2018, the Action Sprint Tour (AST) is excited to announce a 10-race schedule in 2019 that will see the series visit five different Ontario race tracks for its second campaign. The series will once again boast a $10,000 point fund with each race paying at least $600-to-win and $100-to-start the main event.

“During our inaugural season we attracted 37 different drivers to race in our series and had an average car count of 22.7, which certainly exceeded our expectations as a first year travelling series,” said Action Sprint Tour series director Clinton Geoffrey. “We are very proud of what we achieved as a group in our first year together and we are looking forward to building on that success in 2019.”

The Tour will kickoff its sophomore season with a single race in May on the Victoria Day long weekend with a Monday stop at Merrittville Speedway in Thorold, Ont. on May 20. A two-race month of June for the AST starts at Humberstone Speedway on Sunday, June 2 before the tour heads to its most western point at the newly renamed Southern Ontario Motor Speedway (formerly South Buxton Raceway) in Merlin, Ont.

July will be the busiest month on the calendar for the Action Sprint Tour with four races on tap. The Tour will spend Canada Day at Merrittville Speedway with a special July 1 date. Two weeks later, the tour visits Humberstone Speedway for the second time on July 14. Then, on July 23 the Action Sprint Tour makes the first of two stops at its home track, Ohsweken Speedway, for a mega mid-week show that will feature Sprint Car stars Tony Stewart, Christopher Bell and Rico Abreu in 360 Sprint Car competition. The month then wraps up five days later with the third and final stop at Merrittville on Saturday, July 28.

In August, the tour will visit Humberstone for the third and final time on Sunday, August 11 before reaching its most eastern point with its lone stop at Brighton Speedway’s one-third mile oval on Saturday, August 17.

The season will conclude in September at Ohsweken Speedway’s Canadian Sprint Car Nationals when the second ever Action Sprint Tour champion will be crowned on Saturday, September 14.
