Outlaw Speedway Adds Weekly DIRTcar Hoosier Tire Sportsman Class In 2019

Story By: KENNY SHUPP / OUTLAW SPEEDWAY – DUNDEE, NY – As mentioned when the 2019 schedule of events was released by the Outlaw Speedway in mid-November, it was announced that the Hoosier Tire shod 602 Crate Sportsman would be added to the already aggressive class list and sanctioned by Dirtcar.

It is an accepted fact that there are literally hundreds of 602 Crate Sportsman already racing in the Upstate New York Region. The Outlaw Speedway currently plays host on a weekly basis to the American Racer Tire 602 Crate Sportsman Division which also includes a separate series event with a specific point fund for the division which was claimed in 2018 by Dave Marcuccelli. After a spirited season long battle, the weekly class title went to Chris Fisher. That class and series will remain intact for the upcoming race season, but the addition of the Dirtcar Hoosier Tire Crate Sportsman will open the door for any additional drivers that may want to call Outlaw Speedway home for 2019.

“Over the past couple of years we have given the Hoosier Tire Crate Sportsman a few events at the track, stated Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri. In most or all cases the response was overwhelming with very healthy car counts and awesome competition. It made me realize that they should be included at the track on a weekly basis and with that we will have two totally separate 602 Crate Sportsman Classes with two individual point funds and track champions. Given the fact that many racers may want to compete in both the Hoosier Tire and American Racer Tire Classes we have already taken that into consideration. Their qualifying heat, consolation and feature events will be far enough apart to give the crew members time to make the necessary tire changes.”

The Dirtcar Hoosier Tire Sportsman Division dollar amounts will mirror the American Racer Tire Division with the nightly winner taking home $750 and $90 to take the green. The track champion at the end of the year will receive a handsome $1,000 and their championship as well as all the other top point getters in the class will go towards Home Track Points as part of the overall Mr. Dirtcar Sportsman Championship.

The 2019 Outlaw Speedway Schedule of Events already shows no less than two high powered events where the Dirtcar Hoosier Tire Sportsman will be included in the program with those being the Fall Nationals in September and the Dutch Hoag Memorial in October. Siri has also indicated that a few more Dirtcar Hoosier Tire Sportsman special events may be sprinkled throughout the 2019 campaign and as those dates are solidified they will be made public.

“There have been a lot of Dirtcar Hoosier Tire Sportsman drivers from our north and west that have expressed great interest in racing weekly at Outlaw Speedway. This gives those competitors and maybe even some of our American Racer Tire Sportsman weekly racers a chance to run every Friday night at the track.” That once again according to track owner, Tyler Siri.

It should also be noted that cars that compete in the new division will fall under Dirtcar and all of their rules and regulations will apply.

Any additional information relevant to the Dirtcar Hoosier Tire 602 Crate Sportsman Division at Outlaw Speedway will be made available as they develop and can be obtained on the tracks web site.
