Trevor Baker To Drive 600cc Micro For Bryan Grove In NC & At Tulsa Shootout
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / T-REV PERFORMANCE – SHREVE, OH – Despite a long break from competition, due in part to a busy work schedule, Shreve, Ohio’s Trevor Baker will return to action later this week, this time making a trip to Raeford, N.C., to enter 600cc micro sprint competition for fellow Ohio native and car owner, Bryan Grove.
Baker, who spent much of the calendar year racing around the Midwest with some of the best 410 sprint car teams in the country, will visit Rockfish Speedway during his time in the Tar Heel State, ready to enter the two-night Winter Classic on Friday and Saturday, November 16 & 17. The two-day 600cc showcase will feature a pair of complete shows, each awarding a $1,000 top prize.
Adding a twist to the weekend, Friday’s portion of the Winter Classic will be contested without the top wing, and Saturday’s portion contested with the top wing. Baker has yet to make a 600cc start without a top wing.
“This was more or less a last minute deal. I’m excited for the opportunity to race for Bryan Grove. It’s a great chance to do some traveling this off-season before our sprint car schedule picks back up in February,” Trevor Baker explained. “It should be a fun trip. This is a perfect opportunity for us to get some test laps before we visit Tulsa for the Shootout in January.”
Despite a lengthy absence, Baker will enter Rockfish Speedway gates with some prior experience on his side, actually entering competition at the 1/5-mile, clay oval and earning a top-ten finish.
“Yea, believe it or not, this is not my first trip to Rockfish. I actually traveled down there for a micro race roughly five years ago. I know we finished inside the top-ten, so that’s enough to make us excited to go back,” Baker laughed. “Hopefully the track hasn’t changed much in five years.”
If all goes according to plan, Trevor Baker and Bryan Grove will make the trip to Tulsa, Okla., during the first week of January. The duo will enter the annual Tulsa Shootout; the largest micro sprint race in the United States.
