RPW Exclusive: Veteran Returns Home; Billy Decker Rejoins Gypsum Racing For 2019
Column By: ROBERT SYMONDS / RPW – PHOENIX, NY – In December 2015, huge news swept across the racing community. Billy Decker had announced that he decided to split from his long time race team of Gypsum Racing. Billy Decker had previously driven for John Wight and Gypsum for 12 years.
For the past few years, Decker had continued his success driving the Mike Payne (Page Trucking) 91 ride for the Super DirtCar Series along with the Jeremy Smith (Smith Site Development) owned 91 modified for the Short Track Super Series.
In a stunning revelation, Gypsum Racing announced Monday evening that Decker will be back in the Gypsum Racing #91 for the 2019 Race Season. Decker will once again be joining his teammates of Pat Ward and Larry Wight for the upcoming race season.
In an interview with Gypsum Racing’s PR Manager David Medler, Decker said he is ready for the upcoming season.
“It wasn’t a tough decision to rejoin the LJL Gypsum Racing team,” he said. “We had a lot of fun and success in the past, and I’m comfortable around Scott Jeffery.”
Decker also mentioned that the team will be poised this upcoming season. Gypsum will look to capturing more wins and victories whilst keeping their eye on the prize, the Super DIRTcar Series Championship.
Decker will not only be chasing that Series for the team but will also be competing weekly on Friday nights at the Brewerton Speedway. With over 60 victories at the D-Shaped Demon, Decker will have some high chances to be in victory lane next season.
