RPW Exclusive: Two Cars Used In Eastern States Time Trials, But Hearn Sets Quick Time With Trusted Piece
Column By: RPW – MIDDLETOWN, NY – Brett Hearn grew up at the Orange County Fair Speedway. He understands the track, and knows how to get around the “House of Power.” That’s why it was no surprise that the Madsen Motorsports #20 sat on top of the leaderboard when time trials were done Friday afternoon for the annual Eastern States 200.
Hearn tooled around the Middletown oval at a time of 21.231 to grab the pole. However, for the longest time, Brett also say lower in the field. If anyone was to look at the times, they’d also saw his name listed with a time of 21.807. Hearn entered two cars.
“You are allowed to time trial as many cars as you want,” crewman Tim Emerick told RPW. “You have to have the cars entered before time trials begin but you can run more than one if you want.”
The car that Hearn set the quick time with is one that he’s very comfortable with.
“This is the car Brett won Syracuse win in 2012 and won Eastern States with a few years back,” Emerick said. “Brett’s very happy with the car and is confident we can win on Sunday. Looks like we’ve got a piece that is good for the long haul.”
