Inaugural Sean Letts Memorial At Ransomville Next Up For BEI Lightning Series September 14th

Story By: STEVE PETTY / RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – The Bellinger Electric Inc. (BEI) Lightning Series for Sportsman returns to action on Friday, September 14 at the Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville, NY for the Sean Letts Memorial 40.

The Sean Letts Memorial will be a qualifying event for the Florida Dream 602 Winter Nationals at North Florida Speedway in February 2019. Two guaranteed starting spots will be handed out at the Sean Letts Memorial.

As part of the Sean Letts Memorial, BEI Lightning Series will be donating $20 per car that registers for the event towards a charity of Sean Letts’s family’s choice.

Sean Letts tragically passed away in March at the age of 30. Sean was a graduate of Lew-Port Central School and attended the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC. Sean was an avid sportsman and enjoyed being behind the wheel of a racecar. The #40SL was competitive in every race that Sean drove, including visiting victory lane in both the Sportsman and Street Stock ranks at Ransomville Speedway.

Going into the event at Ransomville, 2017 BEI Lightning Series Champion Chad Chevalier from Port Colborne, Ontario leads Niagara Falls, NY pilot and Ransomville regular James Henry by 14 points (254-243). Three-time and reigning Genesee Speedway titlist Kyle Inman from Darien, NY is just 19 points out of the lead with Ransomville, NY driver and 2018 Ransomville Sportsman Track Champion Brett Senek sits fourth in points, trailing Chevalier by 27. The top five in points is rounded out by 2018 New Humberstone Speedway champion Cody McPherson from St. Catharines, ONT, who trails Chevalier by 40 points. The top 11 in points are in total separated by just 99 points. So far in 2018, nearly 70 different Sportsman drivers have received points with the BEI Lightning Series!

The race will pay at least $1,000 to win, $150 to take the green flag plus Ransomville Speedway has collected lap money for this race that goes directly back to the drivers. Pit gates will open at 5 pm at the Big R with the grandstand gates opening at 6 pm and racing getting underway shortly after 7 pm.
