Dan Kapuscinski Heading Back To Dirt; Will Run Outlaw Weekend & Super DIRT Week With Jason Simmons
Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / JASON SIMMONS RACING – OSWEGO, NY – In what has become a familiar fall partnership, Jason Simmons Racing and driver Dan Kapuscinski will once again partner to go DIRTcar Sportsman racing with their sights set on Fulton Speedway’s Outlaw Weekend and Super DIRT Week at Oswego Speedway.
Simmons and Kapuscinski have worked together on DIRTcar ventures since 2015, when the duo successfully qualified for and finished 12th in the Super DIRT Week Sportsman finale at the New York State Fairgrounds ‘Moody Mile.’
“I can’t thank Jason (Simmons), David (O’Connor), Tyler (Thompson) and all their partners enough for giving me this opportunity,” said Kapuscinski. “It’s tough to come into this dirt game late every year, but JSR gives me their best and we always enjoy racing together. We picked the two toughest races of the year to try and get it done, but I know we will give it our best.”
Kapuscinski spent the majority of the season competing in Oswego Speedway’s Small Block Super division on pavement, running as high as fourth in the championship standings with five top five finishes and two second place runs. Now, he will have the opportunity to race on Oswego’s clay surface.
“Having the chance to run Oswego as a pavement and dirt facility in the same season is certainly a bucket list type of item,” said Kapuscinski. “But that goes out the window once you are there and ready to compete. Like Syracuse, I think the type of racing on Oswego’s dirt fits my style and that should bode well for what we hope will be a competitive week at the Steel Palace come October.”
Before Super DIRT Week on October 3-7, Kapuscinski will wheel the JSR No. 00M Troyer Chassis at Fulton Speedway’s Outlaw Weekend on September 28-29, an event he missed last year by just two positions after finishing third in the B-Main in a field of over 110 race cars.
Plans are currently also in place for Kapuscinski to get initial seat time at Brewerton Speedway’s DIRTcar Sportsman Series event on Friday, September 14.
