Woodhull Fans Make Donation In Memory Of Fallen NYS Trooper Nicholas Clark

Column By: ROBERT SYMONDS / RPW – WOODHULL, NY – As many knew of the story this past week, local New York State Trooper Nicholas Clark lost his life on Monday July 2, 2018. Living only a half hour from the Woodhull Raceway, Nick had many ties to the track through family and friends.

After the tragedy that had struck the area, the Woodhull Raceway community banded together. Steven Ovens, Woodhull Raceway Media Director, along with the owners of the raceway, Ted and Brandi White, had put together a tribute in Memory of Nick Clark at the speedway on Saturday evening.

Before the national anthem, David Dubois and his entire 29 race team had their car in front of the crowd Saturday night and stood for the moment of silence and the national anthem. Following it up, drivers Mick Seeley, Connor Brown, Chris Ostrowsky, and Noah Talada had come down through the grandstands to pass the helmet.

Just a little later during the evening, Nathan Clark and New York State Police members arrived at the Woodhull Raceway. The nearly $2,000 collected from passing the helmet earlier in the evening was donated to the Signal 30 Benefit Fund in Memory of Trooper Nick Clark, which is setup so 100% of the proceeds goes to the families of New York State Troopers as well as other critical needs in the law enforcement.

“Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts,” Nathan Clark, brother of Nick Clark, said in front of the fans on Saturday night. “We appreciate the continual support and the donations tonight to the Signal 30 fund. Thank you all and God Bless.”

Though there is little the community can do to ease the bearing of losing someone in such a tragedy, the Woodhull Raceway community continues to show its light to help others when in need. Just goes to show that racing is so much more than just racing and having fun, its about families and friendships.

Thank you Nick Clark for your service and heroism
