Accord Speedway To Host Camera & Autograph Night This Friday

Story By: STEVE PADOS / ACCORD SPEEDWAY – ACCORD, NY – One of the most popular nights of the 2018 racing season at Accord Speedway will take place this coming Friday evening, July 27th.

The annual Camera & Autograph Night presented by Mid Hudson Concrete will afford the loyal Accord fan base to go track-side and meet with their favorite drivers and be able to talk to them on an up-close and personal basis. The time allotted is based on weather and the schedule format.

Mid Hudson Concrete is sponsoring the special evening of events which will feature the six divisions at the speedway in competition. The Mid Hudson Concrete Products company has long been associated with the Accord Speedway for a number of years sponsoring events and assisting with some of the racers who competed at the speedway. The late owner, Joe Giachinta was a longtime friend and campaigner at the speedway transitioning through the street stocks and settling in as a strong competitor in the Sportsman division. Joe passed away on November 22, 2015 in an industrial accident at the age of 58. His legacy at the speedway continues through his family and the Accord Speedway with this special remembrance for his contributions to Accord. The speedway’s walls from turn three all of the way around to turn two are the unique Redi-Rock International innovative block system developed at Mid Hudson and recognized throughout the world. The Mid Hudson Concrete Products company remains strong as they have serviced the greater Hudson Valley for more than 25 years. They are educated on the latest technologies available in the retaining wall and catch basin type areas and can be reached by phone at: 845-265-3265. They are located at 3504 Route 9 in Cold Spring, New York. Their well informed and extensive website is: www.midhudsonconcrete.com

Another big night heading to the Accord Speedway will be the second annual Racers Reunion set to take place August 10th on Kenco Outfitters Night. Although it rained on the event last year, more than 40 interviews were conducted and the fans remained long after the cancellation of the races to chat with the legends of the speedway that first opened for racing in 1962. Frank Bush and Jim Douglas have been non-stop in reaching out to former Accord Speedway drivers to come out and join in with what will be another monumental night at “The Gem in the Catskills.” More than sixty drivers have signed on for this second edition of the event. More information will be available next week as the updates are continue to pour in.
