Tyler Thompson Scores Second Place Finish At Brewerton; Busy Independence Week Schedule Ahead
Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / TEAM TAPOUT RACING – OSWEGO, NY – Rain once again played a factor over the weekend in local DIRTcar racing action, but Tyler Thompson was able to score a second-place finish at Brewerton Speedway in between the rain drops on Friday night.
Thompson led early in Friday night’s opening 25-lap Brewerton Sportsman main, which was held over from June 15, before Alan Fink took the top spot and drove to victory. Driving his Troyer Chassis No. 98T, Thompson drove hard for a runner-up finish ahead of Amy Holland, Stephen Denton and Brent Joy.
Later in the evening Thompson was poised to keep his momentum going, but rain would fall postponing the June 22 feature to this Friday, June 29 making for another night of double feature action.
On Saturday Thompson traveled to the Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, NY for the third round of the Central Region DIRTcar Sportsman Series, but unfortunately ran into troubles early on.
The Thompson No. 98T would once again suffer engine woes, forcing Thompson to go behind the wheel of the Tim Downs No. 50 machine for the rest of the night. Thompson would qualify the No. 50 for the show, but rain would again play a part, postponing the night’s Sportsman Series event to Wednesday, August 29.
This week’s action for Thompson will see five events in six nights as tracks across the area celebrate the Independence Day Weekend.
Thompson will start at Brewerton Speedway on Friday, June 29 with double features before running Oswego Speedway’s Supermodified Grand Prix 75 on Saturday, June 30.
Utica-Rome Speedway will be the team’s stop on Sunday, July 1 before ending their Sportsman run on Tuesday, July 3 for Weedsport Speedway’s Central Region Sportsman Classic and Wednesday’s Central Region DIRTcar Sportsman show at Can-Am Speedway on July 4.
